Updated to WindowBlinds 7 and have many problems

PROBLEMS INSTALLING AND USING WINDOWSBLINDS ON MY WINDOWS 7

I too updated WindowBlinds to 7  on my Windows 7,and been having many problems with it since. Since updating, I’ve had most of the apps installed on this machine crashing either when opening them or when trying to use them. When, I uninstalled WindowBlinds and that seems to have corrected the problem.

1. When I installed WindowBlinds 7, it took a long time to install. The information says "installing" but it never finish.

2. When I cancel installation, it is installed, but not correctly.

3. When follow the suggestion to update, the installation take too long.

4. Once, my computer crash, because I try to use a new skin.

Please help.

Thanks.

Is is possible that your security software is blocking the install?  You might also want to temporarily disable UAC.  I am running WB 7 here with no problems at all.  I have the 32 bit version of Windows 7.

The fact that Impulse is telling you that WB 7 is not installed correctly means that either there was a temporary problem with the server or your computer is preventing WB 7 from installing correctly.  I would uninstall WB 7 completely, reboot, and then turn off any security software and the UAC.  Then see if WB 7 installs correctly.

I have noticed that people running Windows 7 64 bit version seem to have had a few problems.  If that is the case with you and my suggestions do not resolve the problems.  contact Stardock customer support and I am sure they will work with you to get everything up and running.

Join the crowd... Windowblinds 7 and Impulse are terrible.. I have had issues installing on three different PC and OS's... same issue as outlined above.. If Stardock was not trying to hide their apps behind Impulse to prevent piracy at the expense of their paying customers they would be much better off.

For those of you who are having problems with WB7, please try the beta of 7.01 that is on Impulse right now.

What problems have you been having with WindowBlinds 7?  Was it just an install issue, or a problem in actual use as well?

My problem is quite the same with the only difference that every single executable crashes after applying a skin. Only these skins wich only put a color or a pattern behind the default windows aero frames work.

Are you able to provide us with any additional details on the crashes?

It sounds like you have some system wide app thats conflicting with WB which would explain why every single app crashes out.

I don't know what's gone wrong with my Windowblinds!!! I would love it if someone could help me! For some reason last month the free version of Windowblinds 7 was installed on my computer, I may have done myself (late night, too tired, Ambien, whatever) Then Impulse tried to correct the situation for me but I can't find my skins and now when I re-install my premium skins they don't show up at all in the new interface. What should I do?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this gripe.  Running WB7 on WinXP and blinds are randomly changing and when I select one a different one is applied.  Here is the info from the ‘About’ tab.

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.01 (build 82 x86)

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family

Wblind.dll       2010/02/03 11:34:20

SevenConfig.exe         2010/02/03 11:34:57

Wbload.exe                 2010/02/02 14:33:18

Wbhelp.dll     2009/03/24 13:04:07

Wbui.dll          2009/03/24 13:04:05

Tray.dll            2009/10/21 06:13:19

Screen.exe       2009/12/03 13:43:26

Edit:  May have solved the problem.... WB7 had random skins enabled in the 'settings' tab.  Still it is bazaar that even with random selected, when you select a skin it uses an even more ramdom selection....

Neil - thanks for asking, I gave up it for awhile but eventually got 7.01 to install EXCEPT... it says it is installed but when I go a VERIFY Installation I get WINDOWBLINDS IS NOT INSTALLED CORREECTLY - and it points me to 7.01.028  which I tell to install .. it downloads, installs - reboots and nothing, still 7.01 build 247... just an infinite loop - I disabled my firewall and AV (both PC TOOLS products) .. nothing. any ideas as to how to get it installed. I had a heck of a time the first time I installed WB 7 - not even sure how I got it working - Impulse never would finish the install process - it would hang forever, I enventually just rebooted and it is installed - though according to Impulse not correctly. It skins windows but if I open WB I get:
