windows 7 x64

Hi All,

I have a question that Ihope someone can help me with. I have a 2.8ghz dual core x64 with 4gb of ram and an ATI Radeon HD 4350 video card with 512mb of ram. I installed windows blind 7, and (I know this sounds silly) my internet speeds drop to almost nothing (prior to this I had very good internet speed).

This didn't seem to make sense so I re-formatted my hard drive, reinstalled win7 again (internet fine) then I installed windows blind 7 once more, internet speed dropped down to almost nothing again? I re-formatted my hard drive once more, installed win7 again, did not install windowes blind 7, interent speed is awesome, this was two day of work on the computer :-(

So, any ideas.... is it because my computer is 64 bit? I really like windows blind 7, (I did not try windows blind 6) but cannot use it because it makes my computer unusable on the internet.

thanks,

bob

I don't see how Windowblinds could interfere with connection speed. However, Impulse may be able to.

Are you sure it's a constant problem or is it just connecting to Impulse or Stardock sites?

Something you can try is before re-installing Windowblinds run the connection tests at http://speedtest.net/ and note what the results are. Then install and run the tests again. If you're seeing a drop in speed then try disabling the tray version of Impulse and run the test another time.

You could even try installing WindowBlinds from http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com

WindowBlinds has no net code, so there's really no way it could be interfering with the actual traffic. There are certain apps that do not react well to WindowBlinds skinning them, but these can just be added to the exclusion list.

Also, I am running Win7 x64 (x2) and Vista x64 here -- no connection issues.
