What should I buy

In a couple of days Object Desktop will be back to one version. 

For the money, and you might want to check with sales to see what the cost is now, Object Desktop is a value because of all the programs that it includes.

Oops... pardon the enthusiasm, I bought OD Ultimate not long ago and am loving it but I’m a newbie so listen to those that know.

I held off on Object Desktop for awhile but finally bought the untimate version.  It's well worth the price.  I am still playing with some of the new programs.  Besides, you will get an automatic upgrade to the latest version plus an extra subscription year.  At least that's what they were offering when I bought it a couple of months ago.  If the offer is still out there, I recommend that you jump on it.

But, depends... are you a skinner or do you intend to try to skin...do you have the necessary diligence and OCD to do that? 

Or, better put... What do you intend to do with it? There are different apps included in each bundle, and you should compare, factor in the cost, consider your Operating System (not all apps are fully supported at the moment by all OS's)...and decide.

Also...research a little since some of the apps in Object Desktop Ultimate are no longer going to be developed by Stardock.

And, Object Dock Plus isn't included....so...research and see what you want/need and can afford.

Then talk to Stardock sales and see what kind of deals they might have going on...but I'd hasten to do that...

Unfortunately, the OP mentioned ObjectBar, which is one of these apps.

ObjectDesktop is almost priceless. If you take a journey through the different galleries, you'll find that the various programs in ObjectDesktop can change nearly every aspect of your computers appearance. There are thousands of possiblities. Some of the skinners are excellent artists, as well. Sometimes it's amazing how good a matched set of skins can look. Almost all of them are free; well over 99%.

Re 'some'...

Some skinners have moved on to [or back to] professional commercial work in digital graphics - not specifically related to computers or computer GUIs...;)
