Impulse doesn't work

I have had Sins for several months but in spite of reloading all I get in Impulse is "Downloading Information" or "Downloading Impulse update retrying" or "Cannot perform action at this time, Impulse is connecting, downloading etc, etc".  So here I am stuck on Ver 1.05 and no Entrenchment.  Not much frun!  Is it that I am impatient and that it takes two hours or something to perform these operations or is there something wrong.  I have a 3.2ghz Processor and a fully upgraded 9500 with 1gb on board.  It ought to be enough.  Help, please. (It's been stuck on "Retrying for 20 mins as I write.)
