Deskscapes 3 GUI freezes

Hi,

I was using Deskscapes last beta without problems except no triggering at blissfuldreams. Installed version 3 final and the GUI freezes at loading preview. Had to restore from image to use previous version again.

Win 7 Home Premium
Intel QuadCore 2667 Mhz
RAM 4 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT, drivers 191.07

Does the UI stop working. or does it just never show the preview?

It's loading endless and doesn't react anymore, has to be closed by windows.

Neil, I have the same problem. The UI locks solid if I have a video dream running when I open DeskScapes. I can get around it if I manually choose a hybrid or dynamic dream from windows explorer before I open the UI. Not sure if it's the cause but I have over 350 dreams installed.

Edit: Win7 Ultimate 64 bit OS

same here it freezes up while attempting to show a preview. no preview comes up and if i click on it again the whole thing locks up. onlly way i can change dreams now is by just going into the folder and manually double clicking them. btw i am running windows 7 ultimate x64

Are you running the trial or the full version?

If it is the full version, did you have any version installed before and did you uninstall that, reboot and then install DS3?

Full version here, uninstalled the last beta via impulse, rebooted, installed version 3 via impulse.

It's the full version, uninstalled previous version, rebooted and than installed DS3.

Default 32 bit directory c:\program files (x86)\stardock\object desktop\deskscapes3

My Deskscapes is running fine, but now the config program won't open under Windows 7 x64 now.  It tries to open then crashes out.  It opens just fine on my Vista 32 test machine.  Only change recently is the upgrade to the release version (and so I see the fix in the multi GPU configuration scaling in portrait mode, for example).

I had this same problem with Windows 7 64 bit, what works for me now is if you right click on the desktop, you should have the option to pause Deskscapes, after you pause it it should open properly for previews and scene changes

Same problem here, as soon as I click on a dream to preview ,my system locks solid.

Same on Win 7 64 bit

If I pause deskscapes first from right click of the Desktop I can access Deskscapes 3 Config fine with no freeze and mini versions showing in full motion too.

Confirmed.  If I hit Pause Deskscapes first, then go to the Configure, I can use the interface.  But it crashes if it is forced to thread/multitask on Windows 7 x64.

yep pasuing it then configuring works for me too but otherwise it does nothing but lock up as soon as i run teh gui

Are you on 64 bit Windows 7?

Quick question, does everyone here have nvidia graphics?

If so what driver versions are you running?

It would be helpful if someone could uninstall Deskscapes, reboot and install the trial version to see if that version is working correctly for you.

Nvidia: GTX260

Driver: 191.07

I'll try the trial and post the results in a few minutes

Yes, 9800GT... 186.18 drivers

Win 7 x64.

I'm having the same issue, Deskscapes UI freezes solid when trying to show previews and I have to force-close it.  Pausing Deskscapes via right-clicking desktop helps, but the moment a background/wallpaper is changed it freezes again.

Uninstalled, rebooted, installed the trial. The UI works fine on it. I can load any of my dreams, close the program, and reopen it and it works as it's supposed to.

geforce 295, non SLI mode, v191.07 drivers on Windows 7 x64.

I'm running WindowBlinds and Fences on this machine as well.

The problem has been reproduced on a nvidia board running Windows 7 64 bit.  It appears the monitor that it is attached to is a factor.

If it helps, my monitor is a HP w2207 attached via a dvi cable.

This should be resolved when you next see an update for Deskscapes.
