Something like not enough memory?

Ok, i've got Core Due Duo 1.87Ghz, Geforce 9400 GT, 4GB of nice Ram, a lot of disk space, and stuff. I NEVER played in my life a non-laggy game, my simspeed is around 4-5 with wathever graphic config i set. PC usage says 100%, but 17%-20% is from ZONE ALARM ???, but the longer the game gets the higher i get it laggy, even the sound starts to be like "nn--nnn-nnnoo---oooo mm----mmm--oorree mm--mmmaaa----aaa--nna"!!!!

Why does this happen?

Reinstalled everything on this hd about 2 weeks ago, no viruses, no other.

I need a bigger cpu?

Are you sure?  Put your graphics and resolution on all of the lowest settings and double check.  If the sim speed isn't improving with lower graphics, it's probably because of your weak graphics card more so than your weak CPU.

The sound stuttering points to the CPU. Demigod sends A LOT of packets to the other players and your firewall probably slows you down.

  • Try to configure ZoneAlarm to ignore traffic from Demigod (should be save securitywise).
  • Does the game slow down when you play offline?
  • How fast is your internet connection? Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and post the result here pls.

Your CPU should be fast enough to play Demigod without problems, I have a similar CPU and it runs just fine.

When i play offline the game is just a piece of cake, with graphics at top, at 1280x1024.

That's why i'm getting angry about online playin'.

The game was so when i bought it ater release date. i played for a couple of months and then my enthusiasm dropped because of unplayab le games.

Tested the line: 0.83Mb in upload, 10.00Mb in download.

Btw, i'll try with ZoneAlarm, that's the most convincing theory i read, :)

Just one thing: how can i tell Zone Alarm to IGNORE the existence of Demigod.exe? I want to do like you told, but don't know why!

1. put your soundsettings to lowest. this game hs so bad sound code that it eats up your pcs resources.

2. get rid of the damn zone-alarm. you are not the only one that got such a cpu-usage from zone alarm. if you want a free firewall with top performance ... i use commodo firewall

3. forget about the graphic settings. they do not impact your simspeed much. if beside of lagging the games seems fluent than your graphic settings are ok.

Quilbo:

I second CelMare's suggestion to try altering your sound settings.  I have my graphics set to high, but I needed to alter sounds settings to get reasonable sim speeds:

1.  Put sound settings on medium or low.

2.  Turn Reverb OFF.

3.  Make sure your windows speaker settings are set to 2 speakers (or headphones) and not 4 (quadrophonic).

This magically transformed Demigod for me.  Hope you figure it all out!

Your CPU and your internet speed are good enough to play 5v5 on large maps without slowdown. Sound is the Achilles Heel of SupCom and Demigod and can lead to problems. However if you can play offline without the slowdown I doubt that's the cause of your problem but it doesn't hurt to test it anyway.

My money is still on ZoneAlarm. I would suggest to test Demigod online without ZoneAlarm enabled if possible or find a way to add Demigod to the trusted zone. Sorry, I never used ZoneAlarm and can't help you with that. But most firewalls have a list of applications somewhere and you can set the rules for Demigod to 'trusted'.

zone alarm is well known to slow down some system configurations. try using commodo firewall. iwent down the same road:)

If you want to be sure that the sound is not the problem you can also do a test and disable the sound complely.

Sound does have a huge impact on performance in Demigod. So if that firewill is not the cause of the problem I would take a closer look at the sound.

Guys, thanks to all of you

I tried to turn off Zone Alarm WHILE playin', never started a game without it. Now i'm gonna try.

And turning off sound, i thought about setting it on low, now it's on medium but i didn't see improvements so didn't even try to put on low :P

I'll post again to let you know after this "session" of gaming :D

Brb!

Ok, with low sound it goes on 6-7 sim speed, i just did a 3vs3 and it was fine, but the host left after 3 mins, so if was 3vs2

I also turned off that 17-20% resource-sucking ZoneAlarm. I'll try another firewall.

btw is better, thanks ^^'
