Bug Report - OD+, Separators & Dual screens

Separators appear on wrong screen

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_zqvSFl83xHU/Su7zHJpYMEI/AAAAAAAABIY/tJeP4QQ9Ekc/s1024/ObjectDock.jpg

Hi,

Setting up OD+ on a dual screen system. The dock (non-tabbed) is on the right side of the right monitor, the separators appear on the right side, of the left monitor. The separators appear on-top of everything else.

Ok brief system specs:

  • Windows 7 Pro x64
  • ObjectDock Plus
  • Dual screen (2 * 19" @ 1440x900)
  • ATI Radeon 3850

Attached is a relevant screenshot. I have drawn in the left/right monitor boundary.

Also here is my current CurrentTheme.ini

Any advice on how to fix would be most appreciated - I realise I do have the option of using a theme with invisible separators, but that's not the point.

Thanks,

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of CPU do you have?

My personal experience tells me (along with some research on the matter) that ATI graphics cards work best with AMD processors, and Nvidia cards work best with Intel processors.

Not saying this is the end-all advice by any means, but it may be a slight incompatibility between the two in your system.

Anyone have an answer for this? I have the same problem. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I am on an AMD Quad Core Phenom II 2.6Ghz with 8GB. I have an NVidia 8600GTS w/ 256MB RAM. I have the same seperator issue as described above, and I would love a fix! I am using the freeware version, and I don't want to buy it unless this problem can be corrected.

So, by the response (or lack of) to this post, it appears that Stardock does not care about user issues. And since there have been no new releases since I downloaded ObjectDock almost 2 months ago, it would seem that there is no interest in fixing existing problems.

That's too bad since I would have bought this product if this issue could be resolved. As it is, with this type of response/maintenance, I have no interest in this or ANY Stardock products. I will be sure to tell others of the lack of response as well.

Well ObjectDock 2.0 beta is apparently due out before the end of the month.

We will se if this issue is fixed with that or if it gets fixed before it comes out of beta.

It is important to remember that ObjectDock 1.9 doesn't (please correct me if I'm wrong) support windows 7 or windows 64bit anything.

The new version should though so think anough happy thoughts, sacrifice several goats and maybe even even spread a little loving dosh Stardock's way for the new one and it may get fixed.

As an aside I updated my graphics card to an ATI Radeon 5770 and the issue still happens.

Ok I confirm that this issue is still present in ObjectDock 2.0

  • Windows 7 Pro x64
  • ObjectDock 2.0 Beta
  • Dual screen (2 * 19" @ 1440x900)
  • ATI Radeon HD5770 (Catalyst 10.3)

Ok well here is the setup I have on my system

  • Gigabyte EP45 series motherboard
  • Intel Core Quad CPU
  • 8GB RAM
  • BFG nVidia GeForce 1GB
  • Dual Samsung 21" Widescreen Monitors
  • Windows  7 Ultimate x64
  • Objectdock 2.0

.....and not once have I ever had any problems with any product(s), including objectdock. I especially have never seen an issue as bad as this one. I personally think it's a hardware or driver issue on your system.

I recommend checking all your drivers to make sure they are up to date and if that still doesn't solve the issue, I would trade in that ATI for an nVidia.

I can confirm that this problem has existed for quite some time.  My system has three monitors.  Docks on either the left or right monitor show their separators on the center (main) monitor.  They are in the correct position, just the wrong monitor.  This is a programming error even if it might somehow relate to your video driver or motherboard or cpu.  As a programmer myself I do not believe that this type of error is overly complex.  It might, however, be hard to find.  To be fair, if it was easy to find, it would be fixed.

I doubt it is a hardware issue. Here is my hardware:

  • Gigabyte MA780G-UD3H motherboard
  • AMD Phenom X4 2.6 GHz CPU
  • 8GB RAM
  • EVGA nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB DDR3
  • Dual Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20.1" monitors
  • Windows 7 Ultimate x64
  • ObjectDock 1.90 Build 536

So considering I have an nVidia video card and others have ATI, I highly doubt it is directly related to a hardware issue (at least with video cards). Also, this seems to persist from the 1.x days into 2.0. Perhaps there is a coding issue in one of the libraries.
