Windows 7 Ultimate?
Like Vista Ultimate users do not have to purchase deskscapes to use dream files, will deskscapes be free for Windows 7 Ultimate users?
Furthermore, any update on when deskscapes v3 is released?

Deskscapes 3 will not be free for Windows 7 Ultimate users.
I would expect a release within the next 2 weeks.
Can I clarify this, I've just upgraded from Vista Ultimate (x32bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I've purchased almost all available dreams from this website and loads from other websites, if I want to continue to use them, are you saying I will now have to pay?
If this is the case, I think I'll quit now before I get ripped off any further. I would have thought you'd offer your loyal customers a special deal under the circumstances. Most software available today either provides continued free support for new operating systems or offers a special upgrade option at a reduced price.
If I was new to Deskscapes and Windows 7 then I'd expect to pay the full price.
I didn't have you down as a bunch of meanies!
Does not include animated wallpaper like Vista Ultimate did.
ah...not to be mean but you ARE new to Windows 7. There's really not a good upgrade path from "Free"
Stardock does occasionally have desktop software on the weekend specials and I got a discount code for filling out a survey and other things like that so keep your eye out.
If you have previously purchased Deskscapes itself either standalone or via a current ObjectDesktop subscription then the upgrade from DS 2.x to DS 3.x is free.
If you used the free Deskscapes 1.02 on Windows Vista Ultimate then I believe you would need to purchase Deskscapes 3.x at $19.95. In this case you hadn't ever purchased the software which is why there is no free upgrade. Now I don't know if we will offer a discounted version for people who have a history of purchasing dreams or not. I will raise it with people who may know.
The provision of Deskscapes to Vista Ultimate owners was a goodwill gesture by Stardock (enabling extra dream formats to be played besides the 4 or so MS DreamScene mpgs) so payment for an update to the next version of Deskscapes on an updated OS which presumably cost money to you is not unreasonable. Free software rarely entitles free upgrades to the next version.
DreamScene and Ultimate Extras are not even present in Win7 Ultimate.
I think you may be wrong on one of those ID, DreamScene is in Win7 Ultimate I am pretty sure. I know I applied it somewhere in the Personalization area for sure. Not on Win7 right now though so when I find it I will let you know.
Did you upgrade over an existing Vista ultimate install? I don't see it listed anywhere in the Windows 7 features.
It did not come in my copy of Win 7 Ultimate.
DreamScene has been discontinued, it is not in Win7, any edition.
OK, my bad. I must have confused it with looking at the feature in Vista Ultimate. Definitely not in Windows 7. ![]()
Any clue as to why M$ decided to cut it off?
