Advice for a Teching Freak

I love Researching Trading exploring absolutely every planet and Teching to victory as a "Voyeristic Pacifist". The only problem is victory comes too soon. I try and give away stuff (systems and non-millitary research) to the other races when I get the '97% culturaly dominant advice - i.e. victory in 12 mths pop-up' but its always too late.

When I try freaky stuff (fire sales of resources innfluence and systems) to stave off a premature victory the program seems to gag and crash. This has happened in virtually every game I've played in the last couple of days . . . I figure there's gotta be a 'better way' to keep the other spiecies around long enough so I can tech through to 'beyond human' without crashing the game.

All advice welcome . . . throw me a bone . . . :d

- Spread the tech around more earlier on (helps everyone)
- Concentrate your trade on one major civ (helps that one AI - with more cash, they will imporve their culture - especially consider the Alterians)
- Build influence starbases, and give them to the other civs.
- Play against more intelligent AI - believe me, at maso the last thing I need to worry about is MY culture overwhelming THEIRS.

Consider turning off cultural victory at the start. If you want to be certain you will win and want to achieve a tech victory, you will need to gain planets to secure your spot in the galaxy without overwhelming the other majors culturally (cultural flipping with culture victory turned off results in a military victory).

Achieve dominance (60-70% of total PQ15+ planets) and disband all starbases that are not on resources. Or start a game with the rule that you cannot build cultural enhancements on any starbases that game.

Once you achieve the necessary level of dominance, go to the planet detail screens and delete the cultural enhancements on your planets.

If all else fails, give away systems in sectors where the opponent already has a system (to avoid them flipping back to you).

Basically, by the time you hit even 80-90% cultural domination, flipping the rest of the galaxy is a matter of time if you are on a tech par with the other majors.
