Newbie Presentation

Hi everybody. I am a great fan of master of magic and orion and I have heard about this project some times ago. Since I think MOM is my favorite game ever, I thought that I should join this forum to help the project advance in the right direction.

I design board games as a hobby, and since I am a great fan of MOM/MOO, I have in my project list 2 games which are remake attempts of MOM and MOO as board games. It was really a hard job to do, and it's not finished yet, because board games cannot hold as much information as a video game. So I needed to masively simplify the game and focus on the resulting action. For example: To create a city, in MOM you build a settler, move it to destination, build a hamlet, wait for it to grow and get a new city. In my game, you place the new city where you want right away.

So far I read the journal on the site and I have some comments and sugestions that I will eventually post in different threads so that each thread gets its own subject.

Recently I played Civ IV and the Fall from Heaven 2 Mod and personally I found that there is way too much ressource management where 90% of the game play consist in managing cities and 10% for war, diplomacy, research, etc. MOM had a lot of management too, but city development was much more simplier.

I have heard that if you pre-order, you get access to the beta but it is currently not available. I would like to eventually help in the project (I am finishing a board game right now for a competition). Of course I can get access to the beta, it will make things much easier. So I was wondering when would the beta be available after pre-ordering?

In the days to come, I will make some comments about the journal and add some reflexion of my own.
