Keyboard/ micro managing logistics

Key bindings, how do the experienced players setup their keyboards?  I am sick and tired of the "click and drag" unit selecting.  How can I take advantage of the games interface ( ship groupings, fleet management)?  I get into battle and my ships just do whatever they want. Unless I tell them not to.

I set up the planet tree to stack(?) units, where it tells me how many of each unit I have in 10's. Is it more advantageous to have it set up to show each individual unit?

I have started to turn on the "hold position" button on more precious units that I hope to keep alive i.e TEC command crusiers or Advent Guardians, then click them around the grav well where I wish them to go.  I hate when my whole fleet goes to take on an enemy SB automatically and they get blown out of the sky.

I have turned the auto enable on all my cap ship functions OFF, they always run out of antimatter doing things I don't want them too.  Are there keybindings for those? I am tired of the "click on cap, click on ability, click on target" routine. Also, what abilities are better to leave auto enabled and which to use manually i.e. Hoshinko repair bots and their other attacking ability, should I auto enable healing and manually operate the other?

In other words:  how can I better micro manage my fleet?

I am fairly new to RTS games, though I do have a copy of Warcraft III that I played a little, so that might explain my ignorance on this topic.

The 5x2 menu at the bottom right of the UI correspond with the 10 keys (in the same 5x2 arrangement) at the top left of your keyboard (that is, QWERT correspond to the five buttons on the top row, ASDFG for the five buttons on the bottom row). For instance, if you select a Kol, the key mapping would be as follows:
Q -> Gauss Rail Gun
W -> Flak Burst
E -> Adaptive Forcefield
R-> Finest Hour
T -> Ability Management

A -> Attack
S -> (I forgot about this one)
D -> Move
F -> Fleet Management
G -> Strikecraft Management

Abilities that require a target will wait for you to select a target once you press its hotkey (in this example, if you choose to use GRG, the pointer will change to allow you to pick a target ship/structure). Abilities that do not require a target will be used once you press the key (Flak Burst, Adaptive Forcefield, and Finest Hour would activate upon press).

The one I use the most is alt-click.  If you click on a unit while holding alt, all units of the same type in the gravity well are selected.  I will totally agree that hold ground is invaluable, but don't discount local area targeting as well.

Sins isn't very fast-paced, so you can get away without key-bindings.  Reaction speed isn't quite as important as in a title like Warcraft III.
