[SUGGESTION] Double click to zoom on map

Well i think this would be a cool addition when your on the cloth map. With the development of his kingdom, players will have a lot of things moving around one the map, cities to built up and targets to attack. Players will have to unzoom/rezoom everytime they want to select the unit on the other side of the map.

Then, why not allow a zoom in in the location the player double-clicks on ?

Double clicking is more for selecting IMO.  Probably better to use the zoom to cursor system.

Well, i can see why you want to use it to select units but it seems to me a single click is good enough. And a zoom on double click would be very useful on a big mag (remember the biggest map on elemental is x2/4 the size of the biggest one of Civ 4), enabling you to go quickly from one side to another side of the map.

yeah, I fear a double click to zoom would annoy me since I don't know  when I last saw a mouse that didn't have a scroll wheel (which is what zooms in this).    A double click should be saved for other features, like opening status windows or quick-spell lists or something.

Well, if not a double click zoom, what about a mouse wheel zoom on the cursor ? Like the Suprem Commander's one which is quite usefull and would be good on Elemental too imo.

It's in the game (zoom to cursor).

I think you can also tab to go to the next unit.

Yes for me I find it pretty natural to zoom out put the cursor over the thing I'm interested in then zoom right back in with the mouse wheel. It's quick and easy...of course if you don't have a mouse wheel it's an issue.

Sort of. Towns are currently 'units' for the TAB key.

Re zooming, the game appears to have the same keys as GC2, PLUS and MINUS on the num pad are what I was used to using. But either the 0.22 beta or my kludgy installation of it is balky--keyboard zoom changes are much more sluggish than scroll-wheel zooming.

Re double-clicking, I think it should be reserved for opening dialogs or pop-ups related to objects. Double-click the sovereign, and get a proper character sheet, that sort of thing...
