Lose my dock everytime I reboot

I recently got a new computer (WinXP, I am set as the computer admin) and had to reintall ObjectDock. I got my dock all set up and backed up my theme and set it to run automatically on startup.
However, upon rebooting, I found that (1) it didn't automatically run on startup and (2) When I manually ran the program, I had lost all my changes. I figured I could just load my previous saved dock theme and we'd be back in business, but while it listed my last backup in available themes, nothing changed when I selected it. This happens every time I reboot. Very frustrating.

I imagine this might have something to do with my computer security more than the Stardock software itself, but I figure I'd ask here first, just in case this has happened elsewhere and someone can tell me what Windows settings I need to change.

Anyone know what's up?

Thanks in advance...

Erin

That does sound strange.  Are you using ObjectDock or ObjectDock Plus?  Really shouldn't make a difference. I looks like you are doing everything correct.  It might be a bad download.  Uninstall ObjectDock, run a clean up program like CCleaner and reboot,  Use Impulse to download ObjectDock and see if that doesn't fix the problem.  If it doesn't then you probably should email support@stardock.com  and explain what's happening.

Is this an Acer computer?  There have been reports of OD misbehaving on these systems. Try the fixes from these threads. LINK and LINK.

I did just as you said...it appears to be working for the most part---all my icons are still there, at least---but it still isn't autorunning on startup. Perhaps it was just because I didn't have Impulse? I don't know. I never used Impulse on my old PC and OD worked perfectly. (And yeah, I'm using the free version.)

As for it being an Acer...I doubt it. It was custom built, but I imagine that it's a Dell of some sort.

Thanks for your help, guys! :D

What sort of security?

I checked my auto run programs and it's in the list, but I don't have a specific manager that I know of. I just got this PC last Friday, so I really don't know anything about it.

There's no firewall to speak of...it looks like I have Symantec AntiVirus, and that's about it. Pretty vague, huh?

Security software is nice,
But saftey will come with a price.
Sometimes it goes mad,
And thinks good things are bad.
With or without it, you roll the dice.

Try adding a rule or exception
To clear away its misconception.
If that doesn't fix it,
Then try to deep six it
To make nice our software's reception.
