WindowBlinds Expired message

I installed the windowblinds trial last friday so I should be on day 8 of the 30 day trial (as with IconPacker I installed the same day), I used it fine for the weekend I didnt login to vista again until this morning.

Today when I logged in to vista the theme was all messed up with window borders missing, Dialog windows appearing all black etc... I managed to restore vista to the default aero theme but when I try to load windowblinds I get this error:

and clicking OK will take me here https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/purchase.asp?ver=wb6 to buy

I tried to download the trial file again from the main site, in case I downloaded an older file by mistake before but I keep getting the same message.

Any Ideas on how to get the tial working again as I'm not sure I want to buy it yet.

Thanks for the link Zubaz but that didnt work either, I get the same mesagge. :(

BTW the readme.txt that is in the program folder says WindowBlinds 6.30 Shareware, shouldnt that be 6.4?

ChrisSsk before trying Zubaz's link did you uninstall the trial that you had, run a clean up program like CCleaner and then reboot before trying to reinstall the trail using the link?

If the link from Zubaz doesn't work try going to the Stardock site here and downloading.  https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/downloads.asp

If you have had a previous version of the 'trial' WindowBlinds software installed on your computer you may have reached the 30 day trial period limit.  The clock doesn't reset each time you uninstall and reinstall the software.

I'm having exactly the same problem as ChrisSsk.  I downloaded Windows Blinds trial from the Stardock website today, and immediately upon installation, it gives me an error message stating that it is expired, and sends me to the purchasing page.  Is Stardock no longer supporting the free trial?  I've used the program on a computer several years ago, but this is a brand new netbook, first time trial use.  I tried the alternative link Zubaz suggested, but it's exactly the same.

And, by the way Bichur, there's no reason to be rude.  I know it may shock you to learn this, but some people actually aren't trying to screw the developers over.

I'm also having the same problem with WindowBlinds 6.4. Every product you get from Stardock is always in the Beta stage when they are released to the public for sale?? I have had problems with Impulse, MyColors, Theme Manager and just about anything affiliated with Stardock. Stardock hopes that you will let them get away with a bunch of hoopla because of it. It's really bad to distribute programs for a price and then try and work the bugs out. I don't need any comments from the peanut gallery supporting Stardock. I have since uninstalled all of their software off my computer. It's to much of a hassel to have to fix something everytime you use it. I'm not a Stardock supporter but, I guess you can tell that. A program that fits the bill and is free called Vista Glazz no load on the CPU and it doesn't alter any dll's. Have a Stardock Day....  X|

wasn't looking to be rude.  After being on these forums for almost a decade, just figured it beared repeating.

OP also didn't mention which version.

Far as I can tell - each trial version last 30 and each trial has an expiration date that won't allow a trial to be installed even if you haven't run it before - usually the expiration is after a newer trial version is ready.  but i could be wrong about the last part

I'm not sure about the version, the download link says 6.4, the documentation 6.3 and the datails tab in wbconfig.exe properties says 6.2

When the problem appeared I was using the version that can be downloaded from https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/downloads.asp

Since then I uninstalled and re-installed the file, from the above link, from the link Zubaz provided and from a link within Impulse, I still getting the same message

This is the first time windowblinds or any other stardock product is on my PC and as I said in my first post I downloaded windowblinds along with IconPacker and while IconPacker is still on the 9 of 30 days trial, windowblinds expired

6.2 is the one expired

they must be updating somewhere or there is a glitch

went to the link you posted above

and

went to https://www.stardock.com/downloads/

then clicked on 'download' for windowblinds and it took me to same address but the page looks different - one shows 'extreme' the other doesn't

both downloads seem to be coming from sdc

the one at download.com is coming from their server

you might try a ticket to support to see if they can get you a working trial version

and yeah, logically if it's 6.4 it should all say so

Looks like Cnet is having issues.  You can get the correct trial here: http://sdc.stardock.com/WindowBlinds6_public.exe

I apologize, Bichur, it seems detecting subtext on the internet is not my forte.

I'm still getting the same error from the new link you recommended, Zubaz.  Is it possible that Stardock hasn't updated the trial since the new version was released?

No.  Uninstall the trial. Reboot.  Reinstall from the above link.

Well, I tried uninstalling etc. again, and it still isn't working.  I give up, heh.  It seems like it would be a nice program, but it's not worth this much trouble to just install a trial.  But anyway, thanks for trying to help guys!

the file from sdc.stardock.com was the one I was using when the problem first appeared.

In any case, I uninstalled windowblinds (and IconPacker just in case they shared any files) I ran CCleaner, restarted the computer, downloaded the file again and tried to install, again the same problem :(

It seems its a problem with the version in the trial

Had the same problem with version 6.4 build 73 but it was fixed by following DrJBHL's advice in reply #1 in this post: https://forums.stardock.com/366907

HTH. I think StarDock needs to work on this or potential buyers will be driven away.

The website was pointing to a local copy, but it got changed on friday to point to download.com without anyone checking if they had updated the build as they had been asked.

WindowBlinds 7 is due for release soon and all the trials around will be updated at that point.

Other sites may have decided to host the file without informing Stardock and so are not being updated.
