My CD / DVD Drive Disappeared!!!!

So this morning I turned on my computer to find out that I no longer had a CD/DVD drive. It isn't listed under my computer and theres nothing I can do to fix it. I tried to update the drivers but my computer says I have the latest driver installed. I tried putting a CD and a DVD in the drive but it didn't do anything even though it still made the noise like it was reading it. I tried rebooting and using system restore. I also tried manually downloading new drivers. I have no idea what to do and I can't even use my install disk because its a DISK. Please if anyone can help me, I would greatly greatly greatly appreciate it!!

well I was brave and went into my registry and deleted some values for the drive and then uninstalled it and when I rebooted it reinstalled itself no problem :grin:

 

*Whew* I'm just hoping that doesn't happen again because I have no idea what caused it.

Buy a usb stick and put some rescue tools on it, incase of future emergencies :)
