What version of the game are you running?  You need to patch the most recent version to play on ICO.  Download Impulse (you can find it in the downloads section of this site) and register your serial number for Sins.  This will allow you to update your game to the most recent version.  Then ICO will work and you'll be able to play online.

Just a piece of advice: try to find "newbies only" or "comp stomp" games while you're getting the hang of the game.  If you're like me you can also spend a good five or six hours (not in one sitting, though, that would be crazy) cramming every strategy guide written by fans for this game, and you'll probably be fine that way too.

Hmm, some thoughts:

Check your firewall settings. Check any antivirus/anti-spyware software you may have to see if its blocking your program.

If you don't have any further leads, this is a tech support issue.  Follow up on Deceiver's recommendation (especially if you're running Windows Vista, it's notorious for this kind of thing), but otherwise I can't think of what's causing your problem.

yay...im in..........firewall was the problem

a question though, how will playing online affect my internet/bandwidth usage??

also, when i was testing out ICO, it told me that my IP is Invisible and i should use alloy, but that didnt work either, does it mean that i wont be able to host games??

and finally, what is this latency and ping terminology and should i be aware of either of them??

I can't give you solid figures, but I can tell you that a trip to youtube will use a lot more bandwidth.  The information being passed around is probably in the order of a couple hundred bytes every second.  Without setting up a packet sniffer and actually measuring incoming/outgoing traffic for the game I can't tell you for sure though.

You need to open port 6112 on your router.  There are guides lying around on how to do it (varies based on your router), so I'm not going to repeat them.  Google "port forwarding" and you should find the details you need.

Latency is the time it takes for data to go from one person's computer to another.  A "ping" is a way to measure latency, by sending a signal and asking for a reply, then timing how long it took to get that reply.  I personally think ping is horribly overrated as a measure of performance.

@ovi_187,

If you need a step-by-step for "port-forwarding" SINS please grab my guide from the following link:
