Fences doesn't like my icons

Fences doesn't seem to want to take any more of my icons.  I drag them into a fence, but the icons are still independent of the fence in question.  I am using Fences on XP and up until now have been very happy with it.  My desktop is a temporary container for documents I am working on at the moment, so the Fences keep me organized by project.  Or did...

Can you verify the version of Fences you are using?  (the last tab in the interface)

I am using 0.99.2032.  I updated yesterday, hoping there was a bug fix in there somewhere.

Same problem here - FENCES refused to keep icons where I put them. I thought maybe I had too many in one Fence, but clearing that out didn't help.  I let it do an Auto Layout, but that didn't help. I upgraded to the new version and still no change - I can't move an icon from one fence to another, they snap right back to where they came from.

I, too, am having the sam problem.  Here's my story-

I've had Fences for about 4 months, it's worked great the entire time on Windows XP.  On Sept 1st, got a message saying the version I was using had expired, fences was now in a restricted mode.  I immediately went to the website and loaded the latest version.  Since that time, I have been unable to move any files into a fence, nor can I remove a fence.  Help!

I got the same expired version message, but it hasn't been taking my icons for a couple of weeks, so I know an "expired version" was not the initial problem.

Same problem here with Vista using 0.99.2032, just updated yesterday.

Stardock folks: When are you going to address this?

Using Vista Home Premium and not running into this problem yet. I have the most current version of Fences.

I'll pass this along to the dev.

Also, if you go to the Fences config, in the About section, there is a button for Debug info.  Use that.  :)

Not until now.  :)

If you have not rebooted after the install, make sure you do.

Rebooting was the key.  I usually put my computer on hibernate until the weekend.  It sure would be nice if Fences said something about rebooting when it does the install/update.  Otherwise, I have to assume it works fine without it, similar to other applications I install occasionally.  Something to add before it gets out of Beta, I suppose?

There is actually code to prompt for a reboot.  We are looking into that now.  The joys of betas, right?

Same problem. Fences .99 update stopped all fences from working anymore. Old beta expired so I guess we're SOL now.

XP Pro, SP2.

BTW, I've already rebooted twice since installing... didn't help.

Yes, XP Pro.

NOthing changed on the machine. FEnces just won't work. It won't let me make a new fence and it won't allow moving of existing icons.

Jmac - In the Fences config, in the about section, Debug info.  Send it in.

I had rebooted 3 times yesterday, but just did so again and now it seems to be working.

About the "new fence" function - draw a new fence - then it disappears and the little white box comes up below where the new fence WAS, but says "create a new fence here?" (well no, how about WHERE I drew one?), Ok, I"m feeling picky but it is odd and a bit clunky that before you get to SEE your new fence you have agree to the non-location and name it.

At least Fences is working again! I really DO love the program!

once I clicked it, the fence appeared where and at the size I drew it

so maybe it the change to box to read... create a new fence there?
