How pirate bounty is reduced

Can someone tell me how it's calculated?

Can someone tell me how pirate bounty is reduced?  What are the things that cause it to be reduced, and by how much?

it is only reduced by the pirates or neutrals attacking you and causing damage. This supposively pays off the bounty.

At least that is what I have observed.

Yes, only when your ships or structures are destroyed by enemies does your bounty get reduces. I think enemy ship and structure infocards have their Bounty value shown. Same applies to yours, but the value is not shown.

 

I could be mistaken though, it's been quite a while since i last played.

you are both correct. the only way to reduce bounty is for your ships to be killed

So do you get bounty for killing someone with a bounty on them?

Yes and no. If someone else puts bounty on your enemy then yes, you can collect it by killing them. But you cant collect bounty you put on your enemy.
