Right margin/padding for menu item

hi,

i'm trying to skin menu items so that to the right of the text, there's an icon.  i've created a menu item image with the icon in place, but however i configure the margins, the text always covers the entire menu item area - including the icon.  how can i create a suitable margin so the text doesn't overlap the icon?

make the menu item shorter perhaps? play with the size till you get it right......

I wasn't recommending margin settings. I was showing where those settings could be found.
