I luv Demigod but L0Lz at the Pathing

So I was playing this game on Leviathan, and I was playing Sedna and chasing this Regulus who had less than 200 HP. He runs around a tower heading for his Citadel with me following closely behind him attacking him all along the way, but then all of a sudden, he gains a huge amount of distance. I watched as Sedna hit the tower, bounced off it seemed, started running the opposite way, turned around and took an alternate path around the tower.... by then he had a huge gap between him and I, and I ended up dying to the towers lol. I know, I'm such a n00b! That kill would have been nice tho, since no other Demi's had damage on me, even if I died after killing him, it would not have been a loss except in personal stats.

So, I decided to grace the community with a little graphic. Enjoy! BTW, Stardock, please do not take this badly... I still love the game, but pathing does need some work. ;)

Demigod Pathing

pathing should be up to GPG I believe...but yeah it could use some work. I hope supcom two's revolutionary pathing doesn't include any stupid little quirks like that.

*edit*

that is a funny graphic though :P

*sigh* Pathfinding is "mortal", seriously, it can be extremely dangerous.

I've seen players who die going for the cristal, but they get stuck with a tower or a border.

Anyone else hoping supreme commander 2 pathing and hopefully networking improvements could make it into this game on patch or in an expansion?

You can easily create distance also by hugging the inner edge of leviathan for example, their character will repeatedly get stuck on the edge of the map.

Pathing in this game sucks, Espically when it comes to playing Oak i notice he will randomly start auto attacking random targets, like if your fighting a dg with creeps or minions around oak will just start turning in circles and auto attak everything once, he does the same when you attempt to run past towers or creeps.... very frustrating.

oh come on; you can micro an assassin's pathing easily.

The real problem comes when you have to account for your demigod's awful pathing AND each minions' awful pathing AND each minion's suicidal tendencies (particularly towards towers).  Then you have a right to be frustrated. >:(

Thanks heavens I play erebus... shortest distance between two points is a TP.

Worst pathfinding I've ever experienced, and I payed for it. :'(

I think DoW1 and Supcom have had me tearing my hair out the most. Haven't noticed it heaps in DG yet, except for when you tell them to round a corner and they sometimes snag on the edges.

Never played Heroes of Mana, have you?

That Sedna's 360 degrees turnaround after move command looks really funny... but sometimes makes me MAD >:(

yeh i get a lot of "turn and get stuck in wall" problems with sedna also. really annoying.

i also hate turning corners when trying to take out a moving enemy, i alwyas seem to glitch at those points and them managing to escape with luck on low health .....

my minions now get stuck at the citadel and RUN AROUND IN CIRCLES FOR NO REASON.

I hope they will fix these issues.

You payed money somewhere just for the Pathfinding? I don't think so.

That also happens (look like this issue appeared after last patch when cit. exploit was fixed). In 1 match 1 of my priest minions stucked near the cit. and refused to go anywhwere... coward!

Try to get your priests out of the gate and into the mid in exile with one click... I dare you.

I've got the same issue with Oak as you, I_Killed_a_Dwarf. Noticed it a couple days ago, as I was trying to chase a nearly dead Rook, and Oak just kept on throwing his axe around at random target, slowing down enough to let that big guy escape.

And countless times I've seen minions stuck somewhere, in a land far, far away...

Oh, well! The game still kicks ass! ;)

I think oak bug is worse, and there is nothing you can do except say "yep. hes hitting that tower and creeps and not the almost dead dg."

sucks.

This reminds me of my Rook not being able of hammering certain areas of a Citadel. Probably happened to you too: Attack order on the citadel, then he walks around looking for some right spot and then hammers it. Not a big problem but, IMO, that looks to me more as an issue with the footprint of the citadel than as a problem with the pathfinding..

Rook and Sedna for some reason have it worse than others.  I rarely have pathfinding issues with TB for example -- but Rook likes to stand next to towers and the edge of lanes and rock his hips back and forth.  He also occasionally does a full 360° spin before hitting a tower.

Sedna's issue seems to be caused by Sila.  The tiger's length seems to make it run into things before the game senses that you're touching it...so you end up with Sila "walking" up against the edge of a lane or a tower instead of turning.

I find LB to have terrible pathing compared to Rook because of minions!  Sometimes my LB is not as responsive if I have some minions also selected!
