Cannot apply any skins

I recently purchased the most recent Windowblinds and it has been working just fine, until I restarted my computer today. What changes I made before I restarted my computer? None. When I restarted the computer, all my titlebars and taskbar and windows were all in Windows Classic and I could not revert to Windows XP either. So, having used this program for a couple years now and seen this happen before, I attempted to uninstall the program to reinstall. It asks me if I want to uninstall the program, but then it says "cannot locate install.log", and then it quits and doesn't uninstall. So then I used my handy Revo Uninstaller and uninstalled it and rebooted, reinstalled, entered my serial/email, and rebooted. The default XP theme was reverted properly. Then I went to apply one of my skins and it started to apply itself and all it did was make the close/max/min buttons smaller and changed the font on the titlebar. Everything was the same, none of the colors changed, taskbar remained the same, nothing else changed. I then tried to apply the default skins, and it did the same thing, just changed the close/max/min buttons and font on the titlebar and nothing else changed. Why is this? I have reinstalled this program a few times now and I have no idea why it's doing this. Any help would be appreciated... :)

Thank you. :\

Try this ODNT Zapper to remove WindowBlinds. Move or back up your skins first as it will remove them also.

Then run something like CCleaner, reboot then reinstall WB.

Thanks for responding :)

However, I did everything you told me to do (including using CCleaner and Advanced SystemCare 3) rebooted reinstalled and everything and it did not work. It did the same thing as it did before I posted here, just changed the text and the buttons. I'm going to re-download WindowBlinds and see if it will help...

What Security apps are installed/running?

Are you downloading WindowBlinds and installing/uninstalling using Impulse?  If not, download and install Impulse.  Login with your Stardock account and then install the latest version.

@yrag,

I am using PC Tools Internet Security '09. It has detected wbsrv.dll as a virus in the past, but since I've added that file to the ignore list, it hasn't bothered me about it since.

@Hankers,

I downloaded it and installed it via Impulse. When I tried an alternative way to download and install it, I used the link that Stardock sent me in the Order Confirmation email.

I finally got it to skin SOME windows. However, it will not skin Safari's titlebar anymore. It does skin the scrollbar, but the titlebar is in Windows Classic form. On some explorer windows, the text on the titlebar is white instead of black or whatever color the skin's titlebar text is. This happens on any skin, even the default ones included with WindowBlinds. Also, sometimes the titlebar completely disappears and I am unable to close the window or anything. I have no idea why this is happening, and it's getting very annoying to have to toy with the settings every time I log on my computer.

you didn't happen to have a trial version still installed when you purchased/downloaded/installed did you?

I did a fresh download and install via Impulse (uninstalled old 1st, rebooted)

and all my dates are 03/24/2009 while your's are scattered through february and parts of 2008

@Bichur,

After I purchased the program about a week ago, I started installing the program while the trial version was on...I had completely forgotten to uninstall it first. It did not prompt me to uninstall it before installing and did not notify me that WB was on my computer while I was installing. You know what I mean right? Usually when I install a program it tells me that the folder already exists or the program is already installed, but WB doesn't do that when it's installed. So, I ended up having to redo the process, and then that's when the problems started.

I have a security app that considers WB as a trojan. However, when I first installed the trial version before I purchased it, my security did not consider it a virus and did not warn me, and at that point in time, the file wbsrv.dll wasn't on the ignore list.

Currently, I'm using firefox because WB is able to skin it. It still won't skin Safari though :\ It's always been able to skin it! But now it's stuck in the Win Classic form.

The active titlebar text is still white instead of black as well, doesn't matter which skin is applied. However, when I go into the WB config menu and change any setting and change it back and apply changes, the text is normally how it should be... weird.

Thanks for the help! Even though we haven't gotten very far lol...
