Installation

When I try and install Windows FX Impulse says "The beta of the application you are trying to download/install is not available." This also happens with Control Centre. I have a proper registration and beta versions are allowed to be seen in Impulse, any ideas? Thanks!

Running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 SP2. All other Stardock program install and work fine...

From what I understand Windows FX doesn't work on Vista.  Contral Centre I believe has stopped being supported.  Usually the only way you can get those type of programs are if you had a Object Desktop subscription current when it was being supported.

Hopefully someone will come by and correct me if I'm wrong.

Control Center been unsupported and was pretty much replaced by Object Bar

Last update was ver 1.95{b}.002 3/27/2006

Impulse's date is incorrect - it shows me a 6/1/2009 update available - same version

I have CC installed - Impulse tells me there's an update but errors when attempting to update

If I uninstall CC to try fresh with Impulse, CC disappears

Same with ObjectEdit

last version was 1.69a(rc).002 dated 8/31/2005

Impulse says 7/142009 update available same version

Same with DriveScan

last version was 2.00c.048 dated 10/3/2006

Impulse says 4/22/2009 update available same version

For any of the old now unsupported stuff you may be able to get it from support if you were entitled to it before - may not apply if you ever let you sub lapse, not sure

mine's always been current since ODNT 2002

and people wonder why I still have SDC installed....

Thanks for all that info guys, but no thanks to Stardock for making me waste my time... Why do they do this to us, just to confuse??!!

Not sure I understand the statemet about making you waste your time.  :S

Most of the things that Windows FX did for XP are included in Vista.

As Birchur points out Control Center was pretty much replaced by Object Bar.

Chances are with Win 7 coming out soon Object Desktop Ultimate 2010 will probably see some more changes.

Why show me a new available update that doesn't exist, causing me repeated attempts to install so they can error out?

and yes, I did waste quite a bit of time trying to get them to install since Impulse said they were new and available...

I never even heard of Drive Scan...it must be an oldie...lol.

This DriveScan update has been showing up in Impulse for many months, but Impulse fails (error retrieving data) every time I try to download and install it. Other updates download and install just fine. Please fix or remove this update!

if you already have this one installed you're up to date

you can right click on the one in Impulse and choose 'ignore this update' and it will go away
