Problem

Hey, I just downloaded the free version of Windowblinds from stardock website and installed it on my computer. I rebooted when it asked me to. I restarted and tried to run it and it still wants me to reboot. I turned off AVG and reinstalled the program like it said. Rebooted and still did not work.

That has happened every once in a while for folks.  I would uninstall it, run a clean up program, like CCleaner, then reboot the computer and then try reinstalling again.  Why run a clean up program, well if the download went wrong you want to clear out any traces of the software.  Hopefully that will work, come back and post and let us know.

I had the same problem, not only with Windows Blinds but with the other programs. Thanks for the CCleaner info, maybe it would work now.

If CCleaner doesn't do it, then get the free Revo Uninstaller (great software) and uninstall everything through Revo, and in the last window, uninstall only the dark links.

Reboot (very important).

Then download the free version (I'd do it through Impulse) and install it. Then you'll have to reboot.

Make sure your A/V and firewall are off when doing this (download through Impulse).

Should work.

When I get a buggy download, I usually do all the above plus a registry cleanup (this can help, not sure why) before reinstalling the program through Impulse. Just some added insurance before rebooting and reinstalling.

I'm getting the same problem. And i've done everything suggested in this thread so far. (ccleaner,revo,cleaned reg etc) Even tried downloaded with impulse, no go.

Follow this link in Internet Explorer:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/reinstall_wb_service.bat

save the file, right click it and select "Run as Administrator".  This may solve your issue.
