Alternatives nifties in Dread Lords

First, there's confusion now on if economic starbases must be placed along a trade route with the trading post modules or at the originating planet. It's definitely necessary to place the stations along the trade route.
Second, in a small map ("Chaos") and bordering military races, I've figured out you can give your enemies trading vessals. They then setup trade routes, which brings in even more money.
I haven't yet figured out:
- If you place the freighter near a 2nd race's planet and give the freighter to a third, will the third setup a trade route with the second (typically, at least)? Will those relation benefits then prevent the beginnings of the galaxy-wide wartime.
- When you give a freighter, what planet is then chosen as the "owner" for that freighter, such that the chosen planet will then be one of the two endpoints of the trade route?
- When you give a freighter, will the game confuse the incomes or apply starbase bonuses to them (and possibly your income) when it should not?
Time to investigate!
