[Bug] Artifacts

How come I can never find them all?  IDK if this is a bug or not, but, after I take over every planet I still dont have all the artificats.  Even when the game tells me that an enemy has found one, I then go and take that planet, and a couple of times, nothing is found after I explore to 100%.

I think there's like, what, 12 slots for artifacts.  I've never played a game where 12 existed, let alone where found.  Seems weird since there's 12 slots for artifacts, but even if I explore every planet on the map, the most I've ever found/acquired is 5.

What gives?

thats wierd that you explored a previously ai controled planet and found no artifactes there... the devs might like a copy of a saved game (if possible) to see if they can duplicate that...

but only rediculously large maps *might* have all the artifacts... its completly based on chance, and its a rather low chance of finding an artifact... however... if you really want that achievement, I suggest you make a custom map with lots of colonizeable planets... ( 2-3 times as large as the huge-multistar map should do it). or mod the game a wee little bit to increase artifact chances.

oh, and dont forget to take over and check the pirate bases.

Even if you have a huge ass galaxy that holds 12 or more artifacts it's not a garanty that you will find all 12 as sometimes artifacts will repeat them selves. Sadly even if you find 2 of the same artifact you do not get double the bonuses.

I think that the biggest not random map should have all of them (given you don't have really bad luck), but I'm not sure because I don't exactly have the time to play anything that big.

most maps have a 15% for the artifacts to spawn. Best way to get all of them is to make a custom map some have mentioned, but use galaxy forge to bump up the artifact spawn higher.

It's definitely possible to find all 9 in Vanilla Sins, got it on my first huge multi-star game (15 total artifacts).

yeah, if you open a map file in a text editor like notepad, there is a line of code that controls the concentration on artifacts. most maps have it at like 15-30% (i think)

theoretically, if you go in and change that line of code to 100 (percent) then every planet should have an artifact on it. just remember to back up that .galaxy file before you change anything.

and remember, if you want the Archaeologist achievement, you are going to need to find each artifact BEFORE anyone else. to help you out, you can actually play on a map with no other players (just lock each player slot)

good luck!

Setting it at 100% doesnt mean every planet will have an artifact. Ive tried it. Its still random. But it increases the chance alot.

To make it a bit easier on the Rezonator suggested, make a map where everyone starting planet has no phase lanes but your own. So the AI is stuck at their HW and you can freely search the map.

You can find all 12.  I've done it.  Here is a picture to prove it.

Your best bet is the largest map.  The Huge Random Multi-Star.

Tip:  To see if there are actually 12 or more artifacts at the very start: Save, then Surrender, but hit Keep Playing, to instantly see all artifact locations on that map, and count to see if there are enough.  Then ReLoad.
