Hi there, I recently upgraded my system and now have a nice 1280x1024 resolution of a flatscreen tft. However, when I try to run galciv the monitor gets out of range. I tried to run in windowed mode, but putting -W after the command didn't run the game windowed, still full screen. Running version 1.04. Can I change the start-up resolution of galciv? Any help appreciated. Ciao, Wim :)

If you logon via Stardock Central, you'll see (after you're registered your software), that there is a windowed vs a non-windowed version available. The windowed version may even be available with the package you've already got.

However, what you need to do is not run galciv.exe with a -w switch, but run the file galcivw.exe. And before you do that you need to ensure that your desktop is running in a 16 bit colour mods, vs the standard 24/32 bit mode. The program won't run windowed if it's not in 16 bit mode.

Actually, Chantillary, that's completely incorrect. There no longer is a separate windowed .exe for GalCiv and you do run the current versions (1.04 among them) with a windowed command (X:\galciv w).

The requirement that your desktop be in 16 bit colour still holds, though.

In 1.04, it's

"galciv.exe w"

*NOT*

"galciv.exe -w"

In fact, this has confused so many people that the developers should probably just make both work.

actually, I don't think that you need to put the w inside the quotes.
