There is some thought on the subject that we don't celebrate the 4th of July, we celebrate Independence Day.
Which ever you choose it should also be a day of rememberance. You see, if we don't remember, then why and what are we celebrating.
Whom among the many that have given thier all, made thier greatest sacrifice so we can celebrate do you celebrate?
Coming from an American (and Israeli) living in America...thank you!
I was named after a relative who fought in the Revolution. Today I remember his sacrifices, as well as the sacrifices of other relatives who spent the winter with Washington at Valley Forge and then fought and won our first victory as Americans at Trenton. I remember those who crossed the Atlantic in wooden boats and who landed at Plymouth Rock, also my ancestors.
I also remember those who served on both sides of the War Between The States, WWI, WWII and all since. I also try to remember those Americans and Allies who fought beside us in many bitter conflicts to establish and maintain our Independence.
I have learned that past enemies can become fast friends .... and that gives me hope that those who are enemies today may become friends in the future.
The only certain thing is change....

As a nation you have over the years evoked feelings of love, anger, envy, admiration, bemusement, but never hatred towards you. You accepted our people when their countries failed them.
