Windowblinds don`t starts automatical...in Vista

...and also the Aero-theme is missing then!

Hi!

Seems like i have no luck in the last time!

I had installed Vista SPII new, 6 weeks ago. Have the latest Drivers from Nvidia for my Gforce9500, everything is fine.

But when i configure Windowblinds, and then reboot, Vista starts with a Basicdesign (not Aero) AND... Windowblinds has not loaded.

I can configure everything again.... Set Vista-Aero... applied succsessful... set a Windowblinds-Theme succesful... reboot.... everything is basic again!  =o(

H E L P me please somebody....

Hi Cottee.... Interesting that you have this with SPII TOO!!!! Cause i did NOT had it with Vista SPI.

Hope that some of the Stardock-Pros see our Lines here... i think we deserve support... as humans who paid for this soft, hm?

Btw:

Is it normal that "Desktop-Collage" shows identical Images in Dual-Monitor-Mode??? I thought that dymanic Wallpapers are able to show different things on each Monitor????

Thanks for your answer... from a frustrated Revanito

I don't know if you both have nVidia cards but make sure nView is disabled.

It shows identical screens in Vista and different in XP.....don't ask me why but that's the way it is.

Are you using WB6 or the beta of WB7? Have you added/updated any AV/Spyware apps recently?

It will help if both of you go to WB configuration, copy the info on the system information tab and paste it here.

One thing you both can try is: Open Impulse and go to WindowBlinds in the My Software tab.Right-click it and select "verify installation" If it says it is installed incorrectly,it will show an update.  Select a different program on that list, then go back to WindowBlinds and install the update,(this process used to be needed due to a Impulse bug,I don't know if it's been fixed yet)reboot, and see if it helped.

This is a reoccuring problem and this is the fix

It is because of the latest NVIDIA drivers.

The culprit is "NVIDIA Display Driver Service"  go to >start >run type msconfig and click on the service tab and disable the service and reboot. (Vista, enter msconfig into start menu search)

An important P.S.:

I don`t know if THIS is wrong now, cause it was the only way to help MYSELF:

I `ve created 3 Shortcuts in the Autorun-Folder:

- WBload.exe

- WBvista.exe

- WBconfig.exe

Now Windowblinds starts automaticaly... BUT; WHAT a strange way to get it running!?

Hope someone has a BETTER solution to get it back to a normal start...

The latest nVidia drivers are working for me but I noticed it added  support for 3D stereoscopic Drivers and a new running process. Being a bit anal  about what I have running in the background,I checked it out.

I found a  process named  nvSCPAPISvr.exe  running after the update to 186 and  a service called NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service which was set to auto. Unless you are planning on going 3D wwwLink  I suggest setting it to manual or disabling it.

It may or may not be related but it's something to look at. I turned it on and off a few times, and saw no difference aside from one instance of showing 122,000+ handles on my system monitor, which dropped down it's normal range (approx 15,000-20,000)after I shut 3D off again.

Trying The_Goo's suggestion would be the next step.

My rig;running Vista Ultimate 32Bit (yeah,i know,I should get Win7 64);) Just built it in May,so it has fresh installs of everything.

Mobo: MSI K9A2 Platinum Edition

CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad Core BE

 RAM: OCZ Reaper DDR2 PC2-8500 1066Mhz 4Gb

GFX: EVGA e-GeForce 8800GT Superclocked Edition

 PSU: Enermax 600 Watt

 HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB

DVD: LITE-ON Black 22X DL DVD Burner

Revanito, you may want to try Lantec's suggestion in reply 6 ,if all else fails. You have the same Wbload date as cottee. Good Luck.

Edit: Is karma broken...still? I owe a few people.:)

Sorry.... another nerdy Question:

Is it USUALLY NORMAL, that, in a DUAL-Monitor-Configuration the Dream appears the SAME on each Monitor???

Or more concrete: As i bought "Desktop Collage"-Dream, i wonder if its able to show DIFFERENT IMAGES on each single Monitor????

Thanx again... i am happy to be Part of such cool, wise, humourous, serious Community... A rare Thing!

Btw: I do my best to write proper english... but please forgive me if i do it not so well....i am not the best in school when it comes to english.    =o(

I have the Desktop Collage dream and I have 3 dual monitor setups.

In Vista it is normal to see the same pictures on both monitors (cloned)....

In XP it is normal to see different pictures on each monitor.

I wish it worked the same in Vista as in XP but it doesn't.

no actually it should only show on the primary monitor.  Does it show on both??  If it does... very interesting.. for I have not been able to see mine on the secondary monitors.

Or more concrete: As i bought "Desktop Collage"-Dream, i wonder if its able to show DIFFERENT IMAGES on each single Monitor????

Not sure with Vista (because i use Ultramon) but as far as i know in order to get different images on the monitors in a multi-monitor setup is to use third party siftware.  I use Ultramon from Realtimesoft.  This software is a great multi-monitor tool for which I have used for about 7 or 8 years now (since the dawn of XP).

Something to do with the way Deskscapes handles XP and dynamic dreams....like one large display instead of cloning. The dreams have to be made for it. So far it only works with Neil's dreams like the one she referred to......Desktop Collage......
