Street fighter IV

Controllers / Arcade Sticks

I just pre-ordered Street Fighter IV on Impulse... My first purchase here as i buy most my games on Steam.

BTW in Australia SFIV for PC is available at EBGames since the 28th or 29th of June... but it's $85 AUS and i pre-ordered here on Impulse for $44.46 AUS so it was a no-brainer.

But my question is, what is everyone thinking of doing about controllers / arcade sticks?

Searching on the net, it seems XBOX360 and some PS3 controllers work on PC.

Obviously for this game i'm more interested in a 8 button arcade stick, but it's hard to get them. Any ideas / suggestions?

I will be in Europe in July/August so i can buy from there too.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes, English is not my first language.

I'd recommend getting a legit joystick if you're going to be serious about it.

TE sticks are $170US, but you get what you pay for.  The cheaper sticks don't last too long.

If you want to be real cheap- Saitek offers 6 button PC pads that will do the job for $20.  You get what you pay for.  The $50 pads for sale SF4 branded aren't any better.

As for the quality of SF4- it has issues but by fighting game standards it is quite good.

Really, if you're a fighting game fanatic- consoles are better (and one of the few reasons to own a console), since PC's don't get the games usually.

Meaningless.

Beat'em UPs usually don't come on PC... So when a good one is coming, you must avoid it cause "they usually are better on consoles"?

It sounds like nonsense to me. It's a syllogism, and a very bad one.

Thanks for the replies.

Consoles never convinced me. I build my own PC's and trust me, no consoles come close.

If you're not aware of it, the SFIV arcade "machine" is only a very basic PC (Dual Core intel... blah blah). My 2 year old laptop has better specs, i ran the benchmark tool and it runs SFIV at 1680x1050 smoothly.

Consoles are not better for anything. Developers chose to start developing more for consoles, and it's sad to see awesome franchises turning to crap because they have to cater to the consoles crappiness.

Not even the controllers make sense, you have better quality and more variety of all kinds of controllers for PC than for all the consoles combined.

I even thought of building my own Arcade Stick, but i just moved to Australia recently and right now i don't have the tools or the time to do it.

What I'm saying is thatt if you play FG's seriously, you should invest in a console.   Note: for no other genre do I say this.

I have Logitech Rumblepad 2 gamepad. Do you think it will work with SF4 or I must buy Xbox 360 Controller?

It will work.  Be sure you have a 6 button pad though- you need all 6.

Not me, but some friend really experienced about beat'm up told me it sucks.

Too expensive for its genuine value.

Why does it suck?

Can always change the Joysticks.

And i've played in arcades with the exact same joysticks and buttons, and they work fine.

But i will post what i think about it, AFTER i receive it. I can always sell it :cylon:

Has your friend used the stick?

I've heard the complete opposite countless times on the arcade emulation web sites I use, it's supposed to be the best home arcade joystick money can buy if you don't make up your own.

Yes, he has.

He says it's far overpriced, not so good and tough and so on.

With same moneys you can buy far better sticks.

Well, that's his advice, at least.

If you get the chance can you find out what sticks he is reffering to please?

If by tough you mean they are a bit stiff, that can be adjusted.

How is $129 US for a 2 player 22 button arcade joystick overpriced? It even has side buttons to play pinball games.

Just the construction of the case alone is worth $100... the sticks and buttons are almost free. If i don't like them i can always buy better ones and replace them.

Tell me where can you get better sticks for this price... I´ll buy 4 right now

You won't even find a decent 1 player stick for this price.

It seems to be out for a few hours now...

This is my first purchase from Impulse.

Already got the email and already added the registration on Impulse.

What do i have to do to download it? It was not added to My Games list and nothing is happening.

This DOESN'T happen on Steam X(

Yes, i am logged in with the same email i used to purchase it. I used a credit card.

I have the game listed and with a serial on the Registrations page on Impulse. I even right clicked on it and Updated Registration Information.

I also clicked on the Add Registration button on the bottom of that page. Both times i got a Registration Successful message.

Do i need to do anything else to download the game? This is not very user friendly.

Go to the My Games tab.  Is it there?

Click on it.  Click the Download button in the lower right.

Thanks for your quick reply.

My games tab is empty. That's what i'm trying to tell you. Even after i register/activate/enter the serial...

"You currently own no applications in this category.

To add applications.... blah blah"

Yes i did.

I'll have to try this when i get home later, because i'm at work right now.

It's possible that a firewall could be blocking this...

I wanted to try and download it here because we have a crazy fast connection here.

Yes (although unlikely).  Exclude Impulse.

Must be a firewall at work, sorry for my stress

Thanks
