Game won't start/Displays a black screen

I just got the game, and When i go to launch the game, the screen goes black and freezes up, without even displaying the opening, the only way to get out of it is to turn off the computer and turn it back on. I have 760mb RAM, 3.06GHz, Direct X 9.0, and XP home edition.

Any Suggestions?

Do you have an nVidia graphics card? Because I am having the same problem. Personally, I think they just didn't make sure their game worked well with nVidia. I've seen many posts about how nVidia doesn't work well, or certain cards aren't supported.

Update your video card drivers.  That's the most likely suspect.  I've used two nVidia cards and only had problems with the game before I updated the drivers on one of them.  The original nVidia drivers had some issues, and not just with Sins.

If you're still having trouble, email support@stardock.com

Alternatively, how much RAM does your computer use before you open Sins?  I doubt it would cause the black screen, but that little RAM will probably limit the size of your game quite a bit.  You should think about upgrading since DDR2 RAM is really cheap right now (and I'm guessing you don't have DDR3, if your capacity is so low).
