How I see Demigod

The state of demigod is not good. The main problem is that the 2 patches where very hyped to make the game better when they really did not. You can not tell me it takes 3 to 4 weeks to make a patch that had code values changed only. The only balance issue was with heart of life the other changes where very simple to implement. I already know they do not test patches due to random not even working. Again adding random is a simple code line with statistic values. Its just like in a game you type /roll to get a random number.

They already stipulated after patch 1.2 all other patches are going to be based on sales. So lets look at this. Hmm a lot of decent games are coming out starting September. This leads me to this. It makes me feel that both SD and GPG needed money to make sup2 and elemental so they decided to put out an unfinished product out. What leads me to say this? 1st of all name any games before DG that they had that was fairly new that was generating money? None, 2nd why would clan support not be implemented at launch, or no premade options to enter in skirm/path. They did hype this game as a competitive pvp game didn,t they. Yes they said all this is in the works for the summer. Again this leads me to think they needed the money for other projects so instead of implementing these features at launch which more then likely have taken maybe a month or so longer they rushed out the game.

Us gamers know that these companies take advantage of pc gamers since they know they can patch out the game. Now this is by no means a rant post nor a I hate sd or gpg post. This is  post is intended to make you question why this game was launched. They needed funds for other projects so they needed to put out a game to do this is my opinion. They already moved a lot of personel to their other projects and leaving dg feel stagnant. Again they already stated we get 1 more patch for sure but the others are based on sales. That right there should tell us how much resources they are putting in dg.

Yes there will be devs posting that this is not true and dg will get the same support as their other games. This thread will get locked cause they want to regulate it as bush regulated his anti bush people. They do not want any negativity in the forums since that scares new players. What they need to understand DG already has a bad rap of a poor launch so its far to late for them to take that bad rap off DG.

After saying this here are some positives about the game. The game is fun and yes 5v5s actually work for the most part, the connections did get better but its far from fixed. The people that tried the game that had low sims seem to very few. Yes after implementing 1.2 the game will be the way it should have launched.

As I said before they needed funds for other projects so they rushed out DG. The proof is right before your eyes we all just need to open them.

Side note: if they actually tested patches how did random not work at launch. IMO they pulled everyone off on dg to do sup2 and have 1 working on dg.

Without new maps this game is going to last another month tops, it's 11:00 am on a saterday and there's 4-5 games open in the lobby, not a good sign.

The only real issue this game had was connectivity and that has been greatly improved. Everything else is just minor bugs, non game breaking, and complaints.

The game can be played from start to finish. How can you call that an unfinished game. Games do not have to come with the features you think they do. Games only have to be playable to be considered finished.

Well the game isn't playable. So far I've had 4 games with bots at the start of the match, 2 people randomly dropped from the match, and 1 crash(which has never happened before).

I've completely given up on playing online.

Wow, seeing this really does nothing to attract new gamers like myself, i asked yesterday evening about the current state of the game and this does nothing to persuade me to take up Demigod and recommend it to my friends.

Ts however is failing to take note of the large costs needed to develop a game like Demigod past concept stage and into a final product especially in this age of economic climate, art design, coding, engine tweaks all place enormous strain on a budget and i doubt if any developer could afford to pander a game off to a community intended to raise finance for other projects, Supreme Commander for example was not the success GPG intended it to me, the spiritual sucessor of Total Annhilation admittadly fell short of the developers expectations, if you are involved in the community of SupCom you will also know of the criticisms already being aimed at it's sequel.

Most games these days are released earlier because of the pressures put on them by publishers and then patched later, a perfect example is Valves Left 4 Dead, released missing 4 maps and other content and it being added later and then a sequel being announced must to the dismay of the community in general.

I know many new players base their opinion of a game on the strength and support of the people who have already purchased it, and because of this, threads like these do much more to harm the game in the long run, I really do hope that SD and GPG work around the release troubles and make this game into the success it should be.

Sadly...the more things i read like this the less likely i am to make a commitment, i have a full clan of friends willing to make a purchase based on anothers view point, word of mouth is a lrage part of a products success.

While i agree with most of your post, your comment about comparing this game to Left 4 Dead is quite narrow minded. Sure Left 4 Dead was released with 2 missing campaign on versus, but i have never had a single crash/lag or anything else that im getting with Demigod. Also, at least valve patched the game perfectly, i can't think of a single patch for L4D that did more bad than good.

What do i think?

-they pushed DG aside, and only have a handful of people working on DG. And those people are really bad code writers. This should explain the rare and buggy patches released by GPG.

-they have very poor QA testing. And not only this, but they blame the users for their mistakes (post 1.1 patch crashes) and are accusing people from some countries (other than US) as being trolls.

And after all this, they still expect to sell more, in order to continue with the support. GPG is the nr 1 here to blame, followed by SD, for very poor QA.
