"Why do you keep running?"

Normally I don't like picking on weaker players, but this was just too pathetically funny for me to resist.

REPLAY

2v2 match. Me and the opponent above me get horrible map placement while the other side has decent territory, but mostly volcanic and ice. I go after the better placed opponent because that's where my scraps of possible territory lie.

Facing illum rush backed by superior econ, I decide my best bet is to split my fleet and alternate attacks on opposite ends of his territory to bait him into a game of cat and mouse. Sure enough, he takes the bait and I continually raid one side while he's busy chasing the other. When he finally does split his fleet, he just throws unsupported illuminators at their counters.

There were several opportunities he could have laid a few traps to cut me off, and a few moments where I was vulnerable and he could have attacked. Instead, this brilliant strategist brags about how much of a "pain" he is and continues to mindlessly chase my raiding parties. Eventually, my partner finished with his opponent and joins up with me to bring the pimp hand down on this poor naive illum spammer.

Does my opponent wisen up at all? Of course not, it's much more productive to whine instead "Green, why do you keep running from me? " He then throws his entire force head on against the combined fleets of my partner and I. Did I mention that we both have a level 6 Marza?

He ends the game by congratulating my partner and insinuating that I'm a coward for not mindllessly sending my fleet to confront him revolutionary war style. I find it ironic to be called a coward by a player whose only venture into my territory was a complete accident (and a failure at that).

Some people exist for my amusement.

Sound to be like your played that battle brilliantly. I do the same on occasions. How ever if they whine I tell them:

"What? Can't fight at 2 locations at once?"

Spammers always forget that spamming is "A" valid tactic not the one and only tactic. Good use of tactics dude

Nice job, Kerrick.

K.I.A.'s a decent guy.  In all fairness to him, that game was over before it even started since his ally was guaranteed to get rolled quickly.  I'm amazed he played it as long as he had.  Even if you're a great player, it's hard to win when you have two human opponents against just yourself and they own 65% or more of the map, which is what the situation was going to be since Kerrek's team had a free kill in Big Buddha.  I probably would have just called it gg when the enemy fleet was beating down Buddha's roid.

Not sure why K.I.A. made that comment about being a pain in the ass unless he was referring to not quitting when the game had been decided.  When he made the comment about wanting to fight I wondered if he meant, "Since the game is over and has been decided, don't you want to have our fleets duke it out?"

Well there is no argument about that here. And I will certainly concede that he is much better at producing than I am. He was able to build a second cap to start, pump out illums in ten minutes, AND begin colonizing ice planets almost right away. I've never seen anyone do that before.

His tactical strategy, on the other hand, leaves me rather unimpressed. To stop my marza + carriers, he sends 30 illums. 30 illums vs 19 fighters, not a great idea (not to mention when my backup comes rolling in. Likewise, when I'm pounding on his territory with 10 kodiaks, he pumps out 15 illums and tries to throw them against the kodies unsupported.

This leads me to believe he's one of those players who enjoys mindlessly exploiting an overpowered unit by pumping out as much of them as he can. I could be wrong, this is the first time I've played him. From what I've experienced, however, I can't concede him much of any strategic prowess.

See, I could have respected that if this was his aim. His tone combined with his gameplay, however, leads me to believe he was just whining that I didn't want to play "Let's see how overpowerd illums + guardians REALLY is." Particularly his comment at the end: "GG purple, it's just too bad that your partner was too afraid to fight me without you"

To me, it sounds like he's waxing his ego, and I have no sympathy for the arrogant.

He shouldn't have made that last comment; choosing which battles you're going to fight and when and on what battlefield is just part of the strategy of the game.
