Bootskin XP behaves strange!!!

a Mix of original Screen and Bootskin

Hi ya all!

Strange!

Since yesterday Bootskin XP behaves very strange:

When booting i first see the original XP-Bootscreen for a second... then it fades over slowly to my choosen Bootskin-Screen!

Does anybody know why this is SO?

Many, many Thanx!

Check to see what else may be loading at startup. Could be a drag on resources slowing down bootskin and causing, I think, a conflict between standard screen and custom bootskin. I can't be 100% sure this is the problem but it sounds like it. Also try in Impulse, if you have it, uninstalling bootskin then re-installing it. More often than not that works. Correct me if I'm wrong someone with more brains. Hope it works out for you. Peace.

BootskinXP is currently unsupported, too, so good luck on finding any help on dealing with the "strange" things.  A while back, I had a problem where it was applying skins with about 7 pixels from the left side projected onto the right side.  I uninstalled it, cleaned my computer and reinstalled...same thing.  I searched the forums, and Goggled the issue, and found a few people had experienced the same thing, but there was no answer for it.  After my last computer bork and factory reinstall, the problem cleared up.

So much about Windows customization is a mystery with no real good sources of information/documentation.   >:(

I stand corrected.

You know...you would think with so much hype about Windows there would a ton of info out there.

I wonder...could it have something to do...umm...how can I put it...I know before bootskin came along you had to 'hack' the system to make that kind of change. Could it have something to do with the boot process itself. Maybe a part of it isn't recognizing bootskin like...if the keyboard doesn't work after boot because the computer didn't 'see' it during the post or... I don't know...it's right at the tip of my tongue...during the power on self test the system checks all the peripherals...keyboard, mouse, printer, monitor etc. Some where right at the very beginning the system must be looking at the app. in order to change the bootscreen. It's got to happen right at that part of the post. The last bit before...it has to load into memory. Perhaps at that particular moment there's a conflict or bottleneck. Maybe the computer's trying to load both inrto memory at the same time? Or I am fishing here?

think you may have something there Uvah.....I remember having this happen before....and I vaguely remember checking out startup...so..worth a try....it resolved itself anyway...didn't reinstall...

It may well be that the original version kernel.exe (there may be four, for different types of processor cores), was modified (to find and replace out the original version of the kernel.exe file for this version of the assembly Windows)

You did not use other programs update the startup screen, - except Bootskin ??

In addition, (partially reduces the length of time steps. Standard screen) -  install and run the program Bootvis from Microsoft.
