The Galactic Empire

I am on break for the summer. So, I broke out TA v2.02 with the latest version of the StarWarsvStarTrek mod and decided to do a summer epic. Here's what this is:

Immense galaxy, Normal scenario, Maso difficulty (all AI set to Intelligent), only victory condition is Conquest, Blind Explo, Mega Events, Super Abilities, Tech Stealing enabled, Tech Trading and Tech Brokering disabled. Habitabal Planets and # of Planets set to: Common. # of Stars and Asteroids set to: Abundant. Anomalies and # of Extreme Planets set to: Rare. Star Density is Scattered; Tech rate is Very Slow; with a Frequent Likelihood of Random Events. 9 Majors/8 Minors. I am playing as the Galactic Empire.

It is early 2233 and I saved game and started this thread the turn the Yuuzhan Vong declared war on me- the second time. The YuVos declared on me during the First Yuuzhan Vong War (15 April 2229-1 June 2231), explaining that they were well-paid to do so. Fair enough; during that 2 years I lost 54 Tie fighters, 2 scouts, 1 Colony ship and Mamba III. The YuVos lost their Flagship, 49 fighters, 9 SporeShips. They were a good bit stronger than me at the outset, but were fighting the Jedi (rather stout then) at the same time, and by the time this was done the YuVos had made peace with me and the Jedi and commenced to wailing on like three minors. I call that one a draw. And now here is the current situation at the outbreak of a new war:

The Empire still has an Imperial govt.(currently 8 wks away from Interstellar Republic), War Party, leaning Evil, 19 colonies, 202.7B at 93% approv. w/3438BC in the bank. I have not met the Klingons yet, but have Advanced-level Espionage on all 8 other Majors. My immediate neighbors are the YuVos, Jedi, Vulcan, and the Federation. Relations and relative strengths are: At War, Strong/Average; Friendly, Weak/Average; Warm, Strong/Strong; Cool, Strongest/Strongest, respectively. My Fleet arsenal at present: 72 TIE Fighters M2 (5 hp, Beam 2); 2 Imperial Carrack M2 (20 hp, Beam 4); 0 Missile Gunboat M2 (8 hp, Beam 3). All colonies are currently building a Carrack- my plan is to fight in planetary orbit where I have advantage because of Orbital Fleet Coordinator and other techs I researched. That, and the YuVos have over 340 attack ships and Logistics of 12 to my Fleet total of 87 ships and Logistics of 7. That means I would get my butt handed to me in open-space fighting, which will not happen for a whle.

Anyway, thats all to background. There have been no Mega Events to date. Further posts will be in the way of updates following a gaming session. BTW, I am doing this this way so thatas well as reading my posts, others should please feel free to give input. These kinds of games represent an enormous input of time, etc. I'd like to win this one. :)

1154 hrs. 23 March 2236  Imperial Palace Complex, Trantor

The military section of the Imperial Command Center (ICC)- no stranger to flurries of activity during the last six months- was abuzz with activity on a level not seen since the end of the last war. Though the Yuuzhan Vong had made peace with the Empire- for the second time- in September of 2235, they were still fighting all of the other major and minor races in the Empire's quadrant of the galaxy. The ICC continually monitored activities within sensor range; the entire Empire felt a sense of satisfaction learning of the rapid diminshment of the Vong fleet at the hands of the Federation and the Vulcans since last September. Also interesting to watch was the Vong increase the tempo and ferocity of their attacks against the Chiss. It was almost as if though the Vong had to flee the Federation advance, they were venting frustration against the far weaker Chiss, taking particular care to dismantle the extensive starbase network the Chiss had constructed.

But today was different. On a planet filled with hardenned, secured and massively protected shelters and compounds, the ICC ranked near the top of the list, located a mile beneath a mountain within the boundaries of the Emperor's palace complex. It was an expansive, sprawling affair, housing communications, command and control facitlties not just for the military but for every Imperial ministry, directorate and department. It was a small subterranian city, with living and food accomodations, and other amenities. Designed to be the command post of last resort, more often than not if a decision had to be made on or from Trantor, a major part of the decision-making process took place at ICC. It was often joked at in many of the Trantor's underground complexes that the world of politics and everyday life took place on the surface, but that the Empire was run from underground. One distinction though was that the Emperor himself was never anticipated or expected to personally come to the ICC unless perhaps if Trantor itself were under ground assault. But today rumors were flying among the Detail-as the ICC security troops were referred to- that Darkers had been seen in groups together in the complex. A Darker was a member of the most elite, secretive unit of the Imperial Ministry of Intelligence. It was claimed that the Darkers were composed only of survivors of black ops insertion unit missions, run on alien-held worlds. Popular legend held that to see one meant certain death. It was also popularly known that the Emperor's personal guard was composed exclusively of Darkers.

If there was a single person in charge of the ICC it was Prett Oglu. A Sub-Director of the Imperial Security Directorate, member of the Trantorian Defense Council and an officer of the Imperial Guard amongst other postings, Oglu was the Administrator-Commandant of the Imperial Command Center. As might be expected of someone with such far-ranging responsibilities, AC Oglu was an extremely busy person, much preferred to operate on a routine, and was extremely not fond of surprises. His routine for the day was put on the back-burners when his PCI (Personal Communication Implant) activated with a particular recog code.
