Have you tried lowering various settings?

Don't help this asshole. Eight others and myself were recently in a match with him and we were all begging him to leave the entire match but he refused to. He knew the whole time he was lagging the game and taunted us continually. His sim speed would be fine for a few minutes, then sink down to -4 for several minutes.

disable any virus, firewall, bt, etc programs.   get the latest video/sound drivers.  reinstall windows as a last resort.

Would you want to help him... so that he doesn't continue to ruin people's games in the future?

Geez, people sure like to hold a Grudge.  Clutch it like a cornerstone.

Reference to Lateralus noted.

And if you were in that game with him, you wouldn't want to help him either. He was bragging about how he was slowing the game down the entire time. Probably 30 minutes, nonstop.

Hello again andy!

Try the /nosound command line option?

Make sure all other programs are closed when running demigod, no crowded system trays!

What video settings do you have? try turning everything down, including resolution, and see if that helps at all?

Make sure windows isn't running some indexing and/or turn off System Restore?

Run memtest86 to see if you have any bad ram by randomness?

That's a weird figure for RAM.

Anyway, judging from your setup, I'd assume your Graphics Card is the bottleneck on your computer. However, as it's already been stated in this thread that your SIM speed is fine, and then dives, shows me that your computer is running several programs in the background causing the processing and memory usage to spike. My suggestion is to first shut down all additional programs. And when I say all, I mean everything except Demigod and windows. Impulse as well. Now close down, using the MSCONFIG program via your Run command, all unrequired Start-up programs and unrequired Windows Services and restart your computer. Try running Demigod via Single Player and post your experience back here.

He's got XP and probably has 4 GB of installed RAM but that's all XP can recognize.

He most likely has 32bit XP yeah. And too much shit running/crapware installed.

*face palm*

Of course, I'm so used to 64-bit Vista now I don't even register. Thanks guys

Ati Radeon x1950GT 256mb is not a bottleneck

taskmanager and check for applications that consumes your processes/memory

Try not playing on dial up?

To weak. I have an ati radeon 4850, a Quadcore with 2,5 GHz and 2048mb ram. Before i had a geforce 7600GT, Athlon 3500+ and 4GB Ram, and i couldnt play the gmae on lowest settings withot lags...

Yeah checked all taskmanager entries, 76% of cpu was idle after alt tabbing out he game, the rest taken up by demigod -- also tried making demigod process realtime priority , no difference.

Will run memtest - and do the whole msconfig routine as I always do and post back the results.

I shall also try the /nosound option on the shortcut, im presuming I just add -nosound onto the very end?

Check the sound settings. Turn Reverb off and put fidelity to low. I have the odd problem on a Q6600 with that stuff on/high (I wish i was kidding)

Supcom ran better imo :P

Keep in mind that his computer would work perfectly fine for 5 minutes, but then work absolutely awful for the next 5 minutes. How could that be? If it was related to his hardware wouldn't the performance be static? I think it is probably related to his connection in some way. In addition to the "slowmo" every 5 minutes, we experienced a lot of stuttering throughout the game.

if its fine the 1st 5 minutes then you hit low sim that tells me its the vcard. could be the cpu since there is a known issue with amd dual cores. its not his ram. could be his vcard is getten hot.

go DL rivatuner and force the fan speed to 100 on direct control.

Its not simply fine for 5 minutes, then awful the rest of the game. It switches back and forth every 5 minutes. How can that be a vcard issue?

*edit* I didn't read you entire post. It could in fact be that his card is overheating every few minutes.

OP are you overclocking?

What CPU are you using? I mean the exact make and model.
