Shipyard canNOT help to increase the hit points of my starships.. why ??

I have got the 1.04 patch applied. I started a new game I have got a shipyard built in one of my planets. But the hit points of my starships built there are still the same as what I built in other planets.. why ???

I checked this forum and found that this problem was reported before but it seems that no one was working on fixing it. I believe it should be very easy to address and what's the point for the GalCiv team to take such a long time to fix it ???

Thx Twirlip. In fact I also noticed that it helps to boost attack and defense but it is true for human player only. It still unfairly increases the hit points of the starships of the computer controlled races.

In many games I played, Frigates of the computer controlled races could even kill my Battleships simply because of their unbelievable hit points. And sometimes the hit points of the Frigates of the same race were different...

As a result, in my last games, I tried to spy them and see the why.

And I found that their Hit Points ratio is merely 15% to 30%. That's to say, the high hit points of their starships were not because of their Hit Points ability but the shipyard projects they have built on their planets.

So why it is funny for the computer controlled races to have sky high hit points Frigates to wander around the galaxy and my poor and WEAK Rangers can only be kept in my planets ?? I WANT to be a warlord, not someone who likes to hide himself in his shell, man !

First of all, the manual is incorrect. Those shipyards only increase att/def values of ships. There are several ways to increase the hit points though. The biggest is by choosing the war party (+50% hitpoints). Many times the AI empires choose that as their political party, especially the Drengin and the Altarians. There is also the 1 trade good, tri-somthing steel that increases hit points (+20%). Then there are I think 3 techs that increase hit points 10% each (+30% for all three). So I would suggest picking the war party if you want to have equal or better ships than the AI.

Pick war party (+50% hitpoints), build or trade for Tri-stronium Steel (+25% hitpoints), and research reinforced hulls, large scale building, and exotic alloys (each add 30% respectively) ... for a total of 105% to hitpoints.
