If your having connection problems you should try this first...

Is there a list of things to try like port forwarding, updating drivers ,etc that is a detailed full list?  I just want a check list to check off while my ticket is at stardock and they work on patches.  I'm tech savy, but not a guru by any means.

If there is a post with this info, please link it as I have not been able to find it.

Thanks in advance

If using a physical firewall/behind a router make sure you turn off random port selection and select a single port. Then take that port number and make sure you have it set on your router to forward it to your machine. If using nothing but a software firewall, just make sure it is setup to work with demigod. You should be good to go at that point.

I did just that. I got the ports forwarded and the program allowed via software.  Doubled checked with PFPortCheck and 6100 is open.

Funny thing, when I first check the port, it's CLOSED, but when I try again its OPEN.  And continues to be OPEN after several other tries. Not sure if that could be a problem.

Use /serverproxyonly if you have any problems. It makes a big difference for a lot of people if you're in North America.

And if we aren't in North America?

Then you wait for them to turn on the rest of the proxies, which are currently not being used. Think of North America as the guinea pigs, only less cute and not as delicious.

Except I got an digital copy in Australia now (not sure if released in stores here or not and don't care) - I want to play.

I've been VERY active in the Sins community but suffer from a lack of games during the week as no one online when I get home from work (they are in bed) - demigod was gonna be a filler...

So I used the /serverproxyonly and it FINALLY WORKED!  :D I was able to play my very first game with real people.

UNFORTUNATELY, that was the ONLY game I was able to play.  Otherwise I still get in the game, but soon after everyone leaves.

The 'Smart Proxies' are being enabled late next week. I'm waiting for them myself.

People have to make sure they have set it up to forward UDP, port forward tests from websites will not be able to verify if this is working properly.

To the original poster, it will only show the port up if you have a listener running (e.g the game) but again this is only TCP.

Does is have to be ONLY UDP, as my router offers BOTH and I did not which one, so I opened up both UPD and TCP.  I will go back and try just UPD

UPDATE:  Just tried using ONLY UPD but still no luck.  Same issue of being dropped while the game loads.
