forum consolidation would be a good idea

so i noticed between impulse, wincustomize, and stardock all the forums are very similar.  they have some more specific forums for those particular sites, but i think common forums should be the same.  for instance, and i'm pulling this out of thin air, but i see categories like windowblinds on all 3, yet, they are 3 individual forums.  so i could post a question in 1, and would hope it would appear in all 3, yet it doesn't, therefore limiting responses and help.

i would think the forums should be the same for all these sites, since they are all very much related, and woulc make getting help better.

Thanks for the feedback.  The linkages are constantly being reviewed and refined based in part on feedback like yours.

Many of the "nearly-the-same" forums are seperate because the "parent site" has a different focus to the customers that use that site.  They don't need the detail that another site might provide.

I have to agree, when searchinbg the forums, sometimes i find myself going to a variety of places to find a fix or whatever...

A consolidated forum would really be a wise move.  Great suggestion

Not really sure about consolidating the forums, folks that only have an interest in say games, don't really want a forum they use filled with customizing categories.  Having specific forums for certain interests is good if not needed.

What could and should be done is improve the search function, if possible when you want to search the forums have an option that allows you to seach all forums or just one forum.  Most sites have that kind of option, you can do a 'broad search' or a 'narrow search'.  Might be something to consider. :-"

ok, let me explain a little better, obviously forums specific to the particular site don't need to be replicated throughout, wincustomiize doesn' need to see the game forums for instance.  but what i really meant was, a forum like the windowblinds forum, there are some on stardock.com, wincustomize.com and impulse community, only problem is they are all separate and contain their own posts, which means to see if there is an resolution to your problem, u need to search 3 forums all run by the same company, and if u want to post a question, well crap, should i post in just 1, and if so, which one, or do i post in all 3 of them?

and if i post in all 3 of them, then i have to remember to go and check those 3 individual posts i made about the same thing, because there are no notification options.  just seems that it would benefit to consolidate the same forum categories where applicable.

Exactly, though i felt you did fine in your explanation on the first one and i think everyone would feel the same given the option.
