Problem with Network Shortcuts

I want to create shortcuts to a few of my network drives and network folders so while I'm connected to the network hard wired or over a VPN I can use them.

The problem is when I reboot the computer or restart ObjectDock without being connected to the Network/VPN, all the shortcuts load as questionmarks.  When I reconnect to the network the questionmarks work when i click them but the "show folder in a menu" doesn't work. If I exit Objectdock and reload it, the questionmarks return to the correct icons and the "show folder in a menu" works again.

Why is it touching the shortcuts when ObjectDock loads? It's almost like it's checking them out when it loads, which I don't want it to do. I want it to assume all my links work unless I remove them.

If I load ObjectDock while I'm connected to the network, they work fine. If I disconnect from the network/VPN and then reconnect it works fine.

Any suggestions. What I'm doing is pretty common stuff now-adays..

I couldn't be the only one having this problem. When I boot up my laptop without being connected to my work network or VPN'd in, all the shortcuts to network locations/folders turn to question marks and the 'show folder in a menu' is greyed out. Once I connect to the network I have to exit ObjectDock and then restart it in order for them to return to folder menus.

There has got to be a way to disable it from verifying if the links are valid. I know they won't work when I'm not online but I want them to work when I'm online.

Is the paid version any different? This would be a good reason to buy it!
