Does anyone understand experience?

And how you get it?

I was wondering if anyone could give me a description of how exactly experience points are accrued.  I don't see much of a connection between win/loss ratio or even total wins to experience.  Also experience doesn't seem to be related to favor points either.  There was a player that was 3 and 0 all games against AI that had more experience for the tournament than I did, despite the fact that I was 16-2 with most of my games being played against real opponents.  Thanks.

I'm also at a loss. Ranking seems to be based on this mysterious "experience" stat and thats about all I know.

The stats as a whole are kind of broken at the moment, which doesn't help, making it very difficult to say for sure what does, or does not contribute to experience.

Surely it has to be related to some kind of win/loss ratio/streak and what level of opponents your being matched up against.

I think its one of those slow ranking systems. The more often you beat players above or at your experience you go up in rank. I'm sure there is some new wacky formula they will post once it is tweaked some more.

As far as I know, experience is an Elo-style rating (same thing they use for chess).  See the Wikipedia article.

does experience gain function differently when somebody drops from a game?

or if it loads up as 2v1?

I can guess at how ELO would handle that, but is there proof anywhere? it would be nice to know how it works.

It's kinda-sorta wierd that with all the threads questioning how this system works popping up all over the forum, that we haven't had any comment on it from an admin (if I missed one, please link to it). Would be cool to know if it's working as intended or something that's going to be revised. If it is working properly it would be nice to have a bit more transparency.

I would wager it comes from winning games against other players, and if it helps, think of it like exp from any other game.  The harder the creature you defeat, the more exp you get.  You say a guy went 3-0 against another player, that would lead me to believe that he had significantly more exp than that guy did and therefore received very little for the win, as it clearly wasn't evenly matched.
