IP deleted all my icons

I swear I don't remember how all this subscription for this piece of software or that works anymore. Apparantly mine has run out and I can't get updates anymore, Is that how it works? If so that is all well and good.... but.... I loaded up Impluse just to see what was what as I haven't in a while and see that there is an update for IP and it says it is free so I download it and now it says it is a trial version (what is this about?) and this annoying pop up opens each time I open and close the program. What it going on? WORSE is that it took all of my icons away! I don't mean the ones I setup with IP. I literally mean all of them...

This is what all of my apps look like now.

Grrrr, I hate this. Tell me there is a way to get these damn things back!

I wasn't using a trial version before why am I now? I had a purchased copy of IP I updated it (as it said it was FREE) and now I have this.

What is the deal?

Oh, and am I right in that the way it works is you can't get updates anymore once this subscription thing runs out?

Found the answer in this thread. Did the edit the registry fix. Hatin' for those in this fix who don't know what the registry is, which I bet would be most average computer users.:D

I have had nothing but problems with anything Impulse related except for SoSE. I know it is relatively new and all but so far I have not had good experiences with it. Not to mention it is incredibly slow and it insists on setting itself to start with windows everytime I load it even though I have told it not to. Bleh.

Thanks for the help Fomar. Trying this now.

This software is such a peice of joke. They need to just pull this from the market since it has some obvious flaws that is NOT easily rectifiable. I clicked "Install All Updates" from Impulse which decided to download this onto my system. now I can't see a dam thing on my PC. Stupid @$$ software.

*edit* registry edit worked. Uninstalling this peice o'$#!+ with no intentions to ever install again. This left a horrible taste in my mouth. So much for impressing the customer so much they'll choose to buy it.....
