multiplayer with 2 people behind same router

i was trying to play some demigod with my roomate and we couldn't connect to the same server. i tried several times, and then noticed i could connect to every server but the one my roomate was in. the problem happens regardless of if one of us hosts or if we try to join a public game.

is this a known issue?

Are you port forwarding?  If you are then the router is sending all DG related data on the ports forwarded to your IP and not his.  You have to go to your demigod\bin folder and run ImpulseReactorOptions.exe on his computer.  Change the ports to some other numbers than yours.  Go to your router and forward those ports to his IP.
