Beta vs release key

Hi gang,

*- I wasn't sure exactly where to post so I figure General is a good place. -*

First of all to Stardock - Thanks for all the help and extra work that you guys have put in after the fiasco with the initial release. I'm a network engineer by trade and completely respect those 2 hour fixes that turn into days! Your dedication is admirable to say the least.

Second my question -  Is there a difference between the Beta Key and one after release? I joined the Beta just before Beta2 and never received any correspndence stating that I need a new key. Only the notification of new download from Impulse. I can play multiplayer and everything just fine but it seems as if there are a low number of games out there for the number of copies being rumored to be sold. I live in San Diego county and note a bunch of players on the forums from my area so it made me think that my key may still be playing on the Beta servers. Of course it's entirely possible that there aren't a lot of custom games at the time that I logon.

Thanks and keep up the work.

There's no difference between beta and release keys, it's the same thing :) So it's just people playing Pantheon/Skirmish and time of day.

Thanks Annatar11 - I figured that was most likey the case, but I wanted to make sure so that I can ensure I bring the wrath of my QoT on as many hapless victims as possible. }:)

Side note - I haven't seen too much on the posts but is there anything for the Beta testers that paid the extra 5 bucks? I'm not worried about it personally because I got the upper hand on my buddies that waited until release date to get the game, just curious.

There was a thread prior to release that had sales folks commenting about the $5 difference, but I honestly don't remember what they concluded. You could always toss them an email and ask if you like, sales@stardock.com

I haven't worried about it either myself since the way I figure at the time I agreed to pay it and I enjoyed the beta so it doesn't matter, that's why I haven't really been following that discussion much :P
