Tutorial?!?!?

Hi all,

Just managed to get some free time and have finally installed Demigod!

Now, as per title, how on earth do I play this game!?!?

I mean this is not exactly PacMan type of stuff where everything is self explanatory...

Why on earth SOSE type of tutorial hasn't been included to help new comers get into the game its beyond me...

I am sure I will understand everything eventually but why do I need to guess and find out everything hard way and waste chunk of my time when I could go through basic tutorial that explains game modes and how game is played in general!?!?!

I did Google search and have found few things about but is there any particular place / video / pdf file that gamers / developers would recommend for new comers to go through?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi there, welcome to the community. Here's to get you started:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/332105

It covers the basics of Demigod gameplay.

You could also take a look at your Demigod PDF manual that comes installed with the game.

Good luck!

Do what the other posters suggested, read the manual and play a few single player games. Hell, just play a few games and explore. The game is not difficult enough to be worth the resources it takes to make a tutorial in my opinion. You won't learn all the secrets by playing a few games, but tutorials are for teaching you the basics in any case. Once you have gotten familiar with the basics, find a guide that goes into more detail and read that. Or just keep playing.

The manual is pretty poor. I want to know how Armour affects the damage I take. I want to know how dodging works. I want to know what percentage of the gold I get for an assist vs. a kill and whether more than one person can get the assist (and if they do is gold for the assist divided or does the team get more gold in total). I want to know if I can stack the life steal from Mage Slayer with Namoth's Ring, with Ashkendor and whether then boosting my weapon damage and attack speed with Bestial Wrath will mean I'm getting even more health regen from the life stealing. There are scores of things I want to know and can only find out with a lot of fiddling around in games set up purely for testing.

Lack of explanation of how the game actually works and numbers to crunch makes things less enjoyable for me, because I like the difficulty of a game to come from the challenges within it, not from being unsure what I'm doing.

NEWB, all that is fine, but you would learn none of it from a tutorial. Tutorials are made to learn the basics.

...Or the manual.  You can find that information from webresources like http://www.demigoddb.com/  http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pmbS09ByNPGE-hT1mq5_XBQ

http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod/

and

http://demigod.wikia.com/wiki/Demigod_Wiki

It would take a significant effort to accumulate all that information into a well formatted, proofread, publishable guide.  Prima Publishing runs their entire business on those kinds of things.  I think at this stage it's unreasonable to expect the manual to have all that info.  But hopefully these web resources should provide most of the info you seek.

mehoo - THANK YOU! That demigoddb link is  extremely useful. Much appreciated!

@rhymfaxe: True - I wouldn't learn it from a tutorial. But as people had raised the manual, I commented on it not meeting my needs. Luckily mehoo's links make me plenty happy. :)

Cheers,

Newb.
