DeskScapes will not load on windows boot

For teh last few weeks Desckscapes will not work on system start. i get the message "'Windows DreamScene Cannot Start because Windows DreamScene can only run when Windows Aero scheme is selected". I have aero running and dreamscene works fine, it is only when i choose a deskscapes background does this happen. I dont have windows blinds installed. It worked fine for over a year until recently. I have not installed any new software except updates and office 2007 and visual studio 2008.
This is vista 32 bit ultimate, core2 duo t9300, 3gig ddr2 ram, geforce 8600m gt
