Is there a way to beat item spammers?

Is there a way to beat item spammers?

By item spammers I mean people who constantly buy flag blocks and teleport scrolls, effectively blocking you from getting any war rank or any useful stat or experience boosts. My friend and I just went up against two people who did this, and it was astounding how there was ZERO way of preventing this without spamming ourselves. It ruins the game for me.

Hey Zombie I was one of the players you played that game.  Sorry it was a frustrating experience for you... it was a thrilling game for me.  You and your partner were shutting us down pretty hard.. you were winning all the battles.  After the first 12minutes it was pretty apparent that you guys were well geared and had us at a level, gold and map advantage.  In my experience once the other team gets a lead like that it's very very hard to close the gap.  Figuring we had lost the game, we decided to do a hail mary.

Instead of saving for artifacts, we got teleport scrolls and flag capture locks.  I figured that the best way to negate your level and gear advantage was to not be where you are at.  We rushed through your tower defenses to your spawns and once we captured them, we waited for you to show up then locked them and tported to the middle of the map.  That forced you guys to either walk all the way back to fight us and then walk all the back to cap the flags, or wait for the lock to lift.  While that was happening we ran around avoiding you guys and capping the midfield since you were back at base.  The only time we engaged was when we could get a 2v1.... and even then you guys would beat us down pretty hard.  You are a very good fighter.

Slowly we developed a war rank advantage.  As soon as we hit War Rank 8 we locked down both your spawn portals, tported back to our citadel, sold ALL of our gear and used the money to get catapultasauri and creep upgrades.  After that we ran around like mad just trying to stay alive and delaying you guys from reaching War Rank 8.  It was at this point we were able to get a few kills in while you guys were drowning in creeps.  We bought a little armor and hung in there and somehow we managed a victory.

Flag locks are broken on maps and modes with only one contestable flag.  They're well balanced and essential in conquest though.

Good strategy to know for when I go up against insanely geared people, but yeah we were pouring gold into our citadel by the end there, never thought about selling our gear.

That was actually my buddies first loss

Flag locks ftw. Don't think I'd pull em out too early though.

the easiest way to beat flag locks is the to kill the dude doing it  and predict where he is going

Man alive I wish they would get replays working

I did save the replay :)  You can go to mydocs/my games/gas powered games/demigod/replays and rename the last saved game there... it's not a supported feature but you can watch it.

Please post the replay, it sounds like an awesome game!

I went back to find the replay and unfortunately I didn't save... I saved the next game after it. :(

Also not sure it would work with new updated version out tonight.

I didn't even know that there WERE replays in DG.  Jeez.  Is this a multiplayer-only feature or does single player have replays?

Go here: mydocs/my games/gas powered games/demigod/replays

It automatically has the one for your last game. If you want to keep it, you'll need to grab itor rename it before your next game.

To replay, it is something like demigod.exe -replay <replayfilename>.

Someone out there has a decent d/l that will make it easy for you if you don't quite see what I'm talking about already.

The functionality is not quite all there yet. Don't be surprised if the replay locks up or crashes or something.
