2- How to decide What

Get something in your thick heads, right now; You are no match for my modding proficiency unless you WORK at it constantly and have been doing it for years. Unless...

-- You can prove it with megabytes worth anyone's attention in the Library.

-- Your reputations precede the results you dare(d) sharing with others; MrKorx, FoxThree, General Pants, LogicSequence, Macmatt, DSep, AFRonin, Kryo (sorry if i have forgotten anyone else important!) and - so - on.

How arrogant on my part, you may observe. How did that ever happen for each of us, you may ask?

Simple, straight and narrow. We've got the skills, the will, the urge and the knowledge to produce what we want. We like the game and we know damn well WHAT we want changed... let me insist on that word; Changing.

Look it up in a thesaurus if you wish... Modification = Change, alteration, variety, difference, etc.

What do you need to know about HOW to do it? Compute with your brain. Imagination.

Here's the basic arsenal & the toolbox.

- Cheat mode

- XML, PNG, STR, DXPACK, X, TXT, DDS, RAW (and a few dozens more kind of files) abilities

- Programming intuition

- A structured mind which has a clear plan and a solid method to reach it.

- Good reasons  (Correct this; IMPORTANT reasons.)

Not only will you have decisions to take but you will also have to type backslashes in the proper spot at the end of many tag lines. Typos are not an error, they are your worst enemies.

Sure, Twilight of the Arnor is providing you with a bunch of new Editors. We, as in early active modders, had to notepad our ways into proper values, reasonable data range, effective & functional elements while refering to the essential CariElf's mod guide.

Find yourselves a favorite "context" and try to determine if it is suitable for GalCiv gameplay. Science is vast. The galaxy is small. Extra terrestrials phone home. The recipe is already in your thick heads. Your skull & brain are an Asteroid, dig it for some imagination treasures.

Because i know for a fact that after a few months of watching the same races and mastering the conditions designed by other thick heads, you'll most probably need some more diversity to keep being interested in that extraordinary gameplay. Change it at your own risk.

3- Which Files and Why.

wow... arrogant much?

you must have one hell of a complex, because it seems to me like you are challenging everyone and no one about how good your modding skill is.

personally, i dont have the patience, time or skill to mod, even though i would love the ability to play around with coding like you guys do.

but seriously, there is NO reason whatsoever, to open a thread with "Get something in your thick heads, right now; You are no match for my modding proficiency"

arrogant, angry, mean, really no reason to talk to people like that.

so get something in YOUR thick head; grow up, and stop using this forum as your stomping ground to make you feel like a bigger person

Methaphors sometimes allow me to clarify a decision to take, through logical & emotional steps. You should try it, it helps.

PS; Refer to the whole Zyxpsilon at work! modding blog to read first to last articles before calling #2 as a Forum thread... i'm not responsible for what StarDock does with their sites.

no, mate, thats not metaphors, you are simply being a jerk. just about everything i see from you (though, in all fairness, i dont go looking for your posts) entails some form of abuse and self-inflation

and if you want to argue about use of language about whether this is a forum thread or not, well, fine, you do that, honestly, its trivial and i dont really care, but if you cant come up with valid reasons why you are calling 'innocent' people names.

im pretty sure you are only posting to get attention for yourself, and even this post is just giving you what you want, so, to that end, im not going to let your immaturity and attention seeking nature get you what you want, so after this post, i wont be coming back

ill leave you with this observation, how many posts do you have on this subject? how many of them have replies? other than mine and another fellow saying, amongst other things, that he too thinks your abusive use of language is not acceptable?

pull your head out of your ass, write like a conscientious, friendly person, and maybe you will get the reaction you desire
