How does the Skirmish mode work!?

I've finally managed to connect to a Skirmish game a few minutes ago. This was only my second match because I keep getting crashes when trying to connect 9 out of 10 times. Now that last game was a 1on1... 1on1? Isn't this supposed to be a team game? Even worse, the only other game I had managed to join (last Friday) was a 3on2. 3on2? Are you kidding me?

So how does the Skirmish mode work? Is it possible to tell Demigod that I do not want to play 1on1's and 3on2's?

 

Right now I'm thinking about asking for a refund, this is pathetic. But maybe I'm just missing something!?

Skirmish works by trying to match you up with people of relatively similar skill levels.  The number of players you end up with is heavily dependent on the number of other people available to play.

The Demigod player population has been growing each day so over time it will get better and better at connecting you with other people.

Another thing that we can look at adding is letting you set the threshold of how long you're willing to wait to be matched.  That is, if you insist on 3 on 3 games, are you willing to wait 5 minutes for it to find such a game?

This would surely help. I prefer 3on3, 4on4 and 5on5 and I do not really want to play anything else. So yes, I'd be willing to wait longer.

 

At the moment there's not much waiting time for me anyway, because I usually crash to the desktop after less than a minute... :|

It actually kind of seems that skirmish was working ok when the game was first released, and then maybe some subsequent changes messed it up? I got the game on its release date (april 14) and when I played that day, the matches it put me in were fine, like 2v2 in crucible and 4v4 in exile and stuff like that.

And then later on, like a week afterwards, when i tried skirmish it put me in a 1v3 several times, with me as the 1. Recently when I tried skirmish, it placed me in a 2v2 in mandala and the brothers several times and those suck, since the maps dont work well with 2v2, and its  boring.
