Windows XP 64 Bit Fix?

Hello,

I am wondering if the XP 64 bit fix for Demigod will be worked on. Currently I cannot play this game because of random crashes. I have found many other people with XP 64 bit having the same problems.

I also have XP 64bit, but I didn't notice random crashes. I only played SP for a couple of tournaments though (waiting for the MP fixes.)

Is the 64bit XP updated? What kind of a crash is it? (CTD or freeze or ... ?) Any error message? How often does it happen? Have you tried running it in windowed mode? Do you have an ATI card ( that would explain it right there.... just kidding  ;P )

are you getting the crash where the game stops working followed by a clipboard telling you all the actions that were taking place before the crash?

I too am running XP 64 bit.

Here is my crash, it happens randomly. The game just stops and when I minimize it this error is present

Here is what I posted in another thread.....

Here are my system specs:

Intel E8500

4GB RAM

Asus P5Q

Asus EAH4870 1GB DK version

Windows XP Pro x64-bit edition

I've been running Windows XP x64 as my gaming-OS for several years now, and found it to have been the most stable OS that I've ever gamed on.

I can say, I have had not one single crash with Demigod/XP x64.....

I do however use the above-noted system ONLY for gaming.  I never even browse the internet from my gaming-rig(s).  No other third-party software other than TeamSpeak is ever installed on any of my gaming rigs.  The OS is always patched with every single windows patch, regardless of if I think I need it or not.

I wish I could give you more information.  Unfortunately all I can say is that I've been running Windows XP x64 as my gaming OS for years, and have never really had an issue.....certainly never with Demigod.

Since this started going around (the issues with XP x64) I've performed some testing of my own...  tested Demigod on 5 machines of various hardware configs all running XP x64 and have yet to encounter any issues.  Is there maybe some common hardware here?

I will post updates if I come across any.

Just wanted to say that I run Vista 64 without any crash issues
End of PsychoPif's quote

Vista 64 is well supported by microsoft and doesn't have many problems if any.

XP 64 is the opposite of that so it is hardly comparable.

Hey Plinpod-

I had the same issue, too.  More specifically, I run a 64 bit XP, and I would get an Unhandled Exception during the actual gameplay.  However, I never got the same type of crash again after doing a fix that I first heard from Dawn of War 2.

I have a multi-core processor, and I set the game to only run on a single core.  To do this, run the game and get to the main menu.  Then minimize/alt-tab out and press ctrl-alt-del.  In Windows Task Manager, under the Processes tab, right click the Demigod.exe*32 and left-click the "Set Affinity..." option.  In that window, uncheck all CPU's except one.  Only have one CPU checked.  You have to do this EVERYTIME you run the game; so get in a habit of doing it.

After this fix, I never crashed in gameplay again.  I still have other issues, such as the rare/occasional crash during the lobby/setup; but apparently everyone gets those.

--I'm curious to know if this also works for you, though.  Msg back in a few days.

I run XP 64 bit and the game runs perfectly. It has never crashed.

I believe the problem is with your machine/installation.

If you're running an AMD processor, try loading the amd processor driver and the dual core optimizer.

It doesn't appear to decrease performance.
End of Tycoh's quote

Maybe on faster computers but it crippled the game on my mid-range.

I run on XP64 and I have noticed a couple of random access violation crashes when playing. But very minimal I wouldnt really consider it an issue. It happens rarely

I have been advised that you should contact sales@stardock.com and request a refund if you are having issues on XP 64 bit Edition.

That OS isn't a supported one and the website will be updated to make this clear.  For the box apparently there is no space in the GFW design to indicate that XP 64 bit Edition is unsupported.

I am having this same problem.

THE GAME IS UNPLAYABLE

I cant finish a single game, it is so pathetic. I threw my money away into fire!
