So I work 12 hour days and I get about 4 hours in the evening to occupy my time with whatever my heart desires. I decided tonight, much like the last 3 nights, to engage in the game of Demigod. In the 4 hours I have to play, 3 hours were utilized trying to connect to other players. In the 2 games I was able to join, both games were a victim of 2 out of the 6 players disconnecting or leaving because of the joy we call latency. I will admit the game is extremely fun when... it works. However, when it takes 4 hours to play two 25 minute games, suffice it to say, there is a world of grumpy customers.

They know.  There are status reports that they give showing their progress almost daily.  If you're someone who cherishes your time that much, and don't have a lot to spend playing, you'd probably be better off playing something else for the next week or so while they get everything ironed out.  The game has only been out a week and already the online play has been significantly improved.

Read this ^^ He specifically states that they have a patch going live tomorrow afternoon, and they're putting in proxy servers by the end of the week that should significantly improve online connectivity.

Dude i have exactly the same problems. It pisses me off no end. I come home from work and want to sit down and play a few rounds and before i know it, a few hours have ticked by and ive had little to nothing by way of actual playing. Love the game, hate the mulitplayer interface.

My friend basically has the same timeframe as you and we only get major times to play on weekends.  We spent just as much time if not more doing the same exact thing all last week and weekend.  I stopped playing becuase of it til the proxy is up and he just plays Pan.
